WWE NXT Preview: Undisputed Era set to defend Tag Team titles, what's next for Finn Balor? (27th November 2019)

Could we see any title change hands tonight?
Could we see any title change hands tonight?

WWE NXT shocked the system with its victory in the recently concluded Survivor Series that saw three brands battling it out for brand supremacy. After a dominating performance by the underdogs, the Black and Gold brand is now set to resume its own storylines.

Superstars like Rhea Ripley, Adam Cole and Keith Lee had an amazing run in the last few weeks. That momentum allowed them to rule over the weekends with their commendable in-ring performance. Starting this week, all eyes will be on these Superstars who managed to gain the attention of the mainstream business and they have to capitalise on this opportunity.

There are two Championship matches on tonight’s match card. We might also see the old Championship feuds resume on Wednesday nights.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the thing that can happen tonight at NXT.

#5 Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly defend NXT Tag Team titles against Keith Lee and Dominick Dijakovic

All four Superstars who are scheduled to lock horns in a title match tonight were involved in the WarGames match on Saturday. As members of the Undisputed Era, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly faced Keith Lee and Dominick Dijakovic, who were a part of Team Ciampa.

In the same match, Tommaso Ciampa pinned Adam Cole to pick a victory over the Undisputed Era. On the following night, Fish and O’Reilly lost against The New Day and The Viking Raiders at Survivor Series.

After two consecutive defeats, Fish and O’Reilly are now set to defend their Tag Team titles against Lee and Dijakovic. The last few weeks have seen an intense rivalry brewing between these Superstars, which prompted Lee and Dijakovic to challenge the Champions for their titles.

Although the Undisputed Era are expected to retain their titles, Lee and Dijakovic will definitely put up a tough fight against the Champions.

#4 Dakota Kai addresses her heel turn

Rhea Ripley defied all odds to pick a win against Shayna Basler and her team in the first-ever Women’s WarGames match. Although she was successful in making history alongside Candice LeRae, Ripley had to overcome the initial setbacks caused as a result of Dakota Kai’s heel turn.

Mia Yim was attacked ahead of the show which prompted Ripley to replace her with Dakota Kai. But right before Kai had to enter the monstrous cage at WarGames, she turned heel and attacked Tegan Nox before forfeiting the match.

Dakota Kai showed tendencies of heel turn when Ripley chose Mia Yim over her. Even NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler poked fun at Kai for being an average competitor. Thus, the latter turned heel and made a statement and will now address her well-executed shift in character.

She is not expected to form an alliance, but Kai will definitely engage in a conversation with Ripley or Baszler that will eventually set up a triple-threat match with the NXT Women’s Championship on the line.

#3 Lio Rush defends his NXT Cruiserweight Championship against Akira Tozawa

Akira Tozawa has been impressive in his recent run on RAW during which he took on the likes of Andrade and Buddy Murphy. On Sunday, he represented the Red brand in the triple-threat match saw Lio Rush pick a win and bag the first point for Survivor Series during the kick-off show.

Tonight, Rush is set to defend his NXT Cruiserweight Championship against Tozawa, but he has another rival who has his eyes set on the title.

In the last few weeks, we saw Angel Garza toying with the ‘Man of the Hour’ and even mocked his family to play mind games with the Champion. It is quite possible for the high-flying Mexican star to interfere in Rush’s match in order to bring his attention towards their feud.

Rush is expected to retain his title but it will be interesting to see him manage two threats consecutively. Hopefully, his altercation with Garza will result in an extended feud for the Cruiserweight title.

#2 Tommaso Ciampa’s hunt for gold resumes

How does anyone stand up after that?
How does anyone stand up after that?

Tommaso Ciampa is determined to take back ‘his’ NXT Championship that now rests on the shoulders on Adam Cole. The two have been feuding ever since Ciampa returned to the Black and Gold brand.

At WarGames, the Blackheart performed an Air Raid Crash on Cole from the top of the cage that took both these Superstars through the table. This allowed Ciampa to pin Cole and win the WarGames match against the Undisputed Era.

Tonight, Ciampa is set to address their rivalry once again and this time, he would like Cole to know exactly what he is signing up for. Both these Superstars are expected to engage in a brutal rivalry, with its second phase starting tonight.

Now that Ciampa has reliable allies in Keith Lee, Dominick Dijakovic, and Matt Riddle, it neutralises the advantage that Cole has in his Undisputed Era allies. It will be interesting to see how these two Superstars will narrate a feud that is bound to get personal beyond expectations.

#1 Finn Balor and Matt Riddle continue to feud

Finn Balor defeated Matt Riddle in their Single’s match that saw him appear at NXT Takeover after four years. These two have been engaged in a compelling rivalry that will now see them expose a more brutal side.

Balor’s heel turn took the entire pro-wrestling community by surpris,e and the WWE Creative is adamant on establishing him as ‘The Prince’ – a nod to his uber-successful days in pro-wrestling before his time in WWE.

He has called out the NXT Superstars for being too weak to take a beating and thinks that they take everything for granted. He wants everyone to know that he is the best in the business and more stars should follow in his footsteps.

Well Matt Riddle, not-so-respectfully, disagrees with this notion and has stepped up to Balor. Hopefully, they will engage in more altercations in the coming weeks that will allow NXT to book an intense feud featuring these two talented Superstars.
