WWE NXT Results (August 21st, 2019): Jordan Myles cashes in on his Breakout Title shot, The Original Bro finally battles the Hound of Ulster

Velveteen Dream challenged Roderick Strong to step into his spotlight
Velveteen Dream challenged Roderick Strong to step into his spotlight

Matt Riddle has been haunted by the Beast of Belfast for nearly a month now. Killian Dain made an impact with his return to NXT, utterly annihilating the Original Bro and sending him through the stage with a running senton. Since then, NXT has been a warzone for them. Tonight, they finally face off in singles competition. (For real, this time!)

At NXT TakeOver, Shayna Baszler barely escaped with her NXT Women's Championship. Mia Yim took the fight to her, refusing to back down from the Queen of Spades unlike anyone has done before. It seems like that may have impressed her, as Baszler gave the HBIC an interesting offer.

The Undisputed Era are still lacking in the gold department
The Undisputed Era are still lacking in the gold department

Adam Cole and the Undisputed Era kicked off NXT this week, with the Panama City Playboy gloating about his successful title defense against Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. The leader of the Era went on to claim that he's then, now, and forever the greatest NXT Champion to ever live.

When it comes down to the Mount Rushmore of NXT, Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Kevin Owens don't cut it. In fact, Cole believes his face should be on there four times. Roderick Strong cut in to talk about the fact that all four of them should be draped in gold. However, at Toronto, he, Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish were wrongfully deprived of the titles.

Strong's gripe comes from the fact that he was supposed to battle the Velveteen Dream one-on-one for his NXT North American Championship, but had to deal with the unexpected element in Pete Dunne. In fact, Dunne was the one pinned, not Strong. Fish & O'Reilly also had pretty sound logic behind their moaning. During the NXT Tag Team Titles match, O'Reilly was pinned when he wasn't the legal man.

Cole said that in due time, the Undisputed Prophecy would come to fruition. They're only two steps away from owning all the gold and running the entirety of NXT.

Before they could leave, NXT Breakout Tournament winner Jordan Myles made his entrance, holding his contract for any NXT Championship of his choosing. Cole scoffed at the thought that Myles would be challenging him, and said that he wasn't at the champ's level. Instead, he should go to NXT UK or 205 Live and challenge for their titles instead.

Cole went on to say that there's nothing worse for one's career than wasting an opportunity like this on him, but Myles was persistent. He handed the contract to him, but dropped it just before Cole could grab it. Myles left laughing and taunting the Undisputed Era while Cole and his cronies looked over the paperwork.

Mansoor vs Damian Priest

Priest brought Mansoor into the corner with ease. When Mansoor shoved him away and went up top, Priest yanked his leg out, sending him crashing headfirst into the top turnbuckle. Priest battered Mansoor with massive kicks and elbows.

Mansoor managed to catch himself as he was launched over the ropes, but as he came back in he was met by a devastating right hand. Mansoor shook it off, and countered a suplex with a roll-up. Priest broke out and took a dropkick and running bicycle kick to the jaw.

Priest attempted to chokeslam Mansoor, but the high flyer escaped and caught the big man with a knee before sending him over the ropes. A tope con hilo took out the Archer of NXT. On the Apron, a springboard blockbuster rocked Priest. However, as Mansoor went to put him away, Priest sent him flying following a tornado DDT attempt. A Razor's Edge set up for the Reckoning, finishing off Mansoor for good.

Results: Damian Priest defeated Mansoor via pinfall.

Mia Yim vs Vanessa Bourne w/Aliyah

Bourne brought Mia Yim down early with a kick to the gut and a side headlock. Yim reversed, locking up Bourne with one of her own. Getting shot off into the ropes, Yim dropped her with a shoulder block. A shot to the throat left Bourne down on one knee. However, as Yim came off the ropes, she was caught by Aliyah, allowing Bourne to plant her with a Samoan Drop.

Bourne went to the apron with Yim hung up in between the ropes, labeling her a "lower" with a sticker on her backside. Back inside the ring, Yim responded with a takedown and a series of punches. In the corner, Bourne was pelted by chops. Across the ring, a cannonball senton connected, and Yim ended the "Higher's" night with the Protect Ya Neck.

Results: Mia Yim defeated Vanessa Bourne via pinfall.

Following the match, NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler walked out to the stage. The Queen of Spades gave Yim props, saying that she's badass, and fought her in a way nobody else has been able to do.

At TakeOver, she saw in her eyes what Yim had to do to get where she is. Because of that, Baszler hoped that they could make a truce, and that Yim would join her and the other two Horsewomen, Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke, who had cornered Yim on the apron.

Yim thought for a moment, but decided against it, attacking both Shafir & Duke. Baszler jumped in, and the trio beat Yim down before four officials rushed the ring, breaking up the assault.

It's a battle of the Aussies as Shane Thorne faces NXT Breakout Star Bronson Reed
It's a battle of the Aussies as Shane Thorne faces NXT Breakout Star Bronson Reed

After months away due to injury, Dominic Dijakovic finally returns to NXT. The monstrous Dijakovic was in the middle of a heated war with fellow titan Keith Lee six months ago. Sadly, before we could get past the first match, he was forced to undergo surgery.

Now, we'll finally get to see the two men go to war once again as Keith Lee will battle Dominik Dijakovic next week.

Bronson Reed vs Shane Thorne

Thorne started the bout off by chipping away at the massive tree trunk-like legs of Reed. The big man shook them off though, and caught Thorne's leg, bringing him down and sitting atop the Mighty One.

In the corner, Reed tried to crush him with a running splash, but Thorne sidestepped and caught him with several kicks. However, bringing him out to the middle of the ring was a mistake. Thorne bounced Reed off the ropes only to be spiked with a sitout spinebuster.

Thorne managed to escape a military press by pulling at Reed's nostrils, and when he landed on his feet, he began battering his fellow countryman. A penalty kick landed flush on Reed's back as he sat in the middle of the ring. Thorne tried to pick him up by his hair but was met by two frying pan sized chops to the chest. He responded with a standing dropkick, sending Reed into the corner. A running dropkick and running cannonball senton gave Thorne a two-count.

Reed blocked the back drop driver and countered a european uppercut into a powerslam. Thorne found himself in the corner and pushed Reed back with a boot, but a huge running splash saw him crumble to the mat. A running senton splash probably could've been the end of the match, but Reed wanted to continue the punishment, sending Thorne into the corner for more running body splashes.

Throne tried to escape up the ramp but was caught by Reed and tossed back inside. As he was ascending the ropes, Thorne kicked him off, allowing him to level the monstrous Reed with a running knee strike.

Results: Shane Thorne defeated Bronson Reed via pinfall.

Velveteen Dream was pushed out on his couch by his two valets. The North American Champion listed the prices of his merch, but said him pinning Pete Dunne at TakeOver: Toronto and retaining his title? That's priceless.

As far as Roderick Strong goes, the spotlight is now on him. However, he better take advantage of the opportunity, because if he doesn't....well...Dream Over.

The epic brawl between Dain and Riddle is finally here
The epic brawl between Dain and Riddle is finally here

It's official. Jordan Myles will challenge Adam Cole for his NXT Championship. It seems that the leader of the Undisputed Era has agreed to the terms, and will face Myles in two weeks.

Speaking of the Undisputed Era, Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish will once again challenge the Street Profits for the NXT Tag Team Titles next week.

Killian Dain vs Matt Riddle

Riddle snuck up on Dain during his entrance and leaped on the former NXT Tag Team Champion. The two traded strikes, with Riddle pelting the big man with a series of precision strikes while Dain waylayed him with massive clubbing blows, looking for home runs every time.

Riddle sent Dain outside and dove onto him off the steel steps. Back inside though, Dain countered a grapple attempt, rocking Riddle with a ripcord shoulder block and a running crossbody. A suplex from Dain earned him a two-count. Riddle was locked in a seated abdominal stretch, with Dain forcing pressure on Riddle's neck while shoving his face towards the mat.

Riddle escaped and tried to respond with a few shots to the gut, but Dain shrugged them off and kicked him in the gut, right into the taped ribs. Dain stood on top of them, with Riddle screaming out in pain.

A deadlift gutbuster left Riddle grabbing at his stomach while Dain continued to pelt him with strikes before trying to lock him in a camel clutch of sorts. Riddle turned it around, nearly locking in a front facelock. Dain leapt back to his feet to escape Riddle's hands but Riddle met him standing bringing Dain over for a Brobuster.

The two then met on their feet again, with Riddle avoiding Dain's hammer-like fists for some stiff combinations. A penalty kick was avoided by Dain, but as he rolled away, was crushed by a Broton. The PK connected this time, and Riddle began battering Dain with elbow strikes to the side of the neck. Dain rolled into the ropes to break up Riddle's offense.

Riddle was again able to drop Dain, countering a powerslam with a German suplex. A knee rocked Dain, but as Riddle celebrated, he recovered and sent him into the corner with a shotgun dropkick, followed up by a cannonball senton. Riddle broke out, and countered a running senton with a Bromission attempt. Dain made it to his feet and sent Riddle over with a hip toss. Dain stunned him with a Bro to Sleep, following up with a powerbomb.

A knee strike seemingly put him away, but Dain managed to kick out. Riddle ascended the ropes, but as he dove off for a rolling Broton, Dain lifted his knees up. Dain then drove him shoulder first into the ring post. Dain followed Riddle around the ring where the Original Bro was sitting up next to the steel steps.

Dain rushed in, but Riddle avoided, damaging Dain's shoulder. Riddle moved the top half of the steps, but was sent onto them face first with a back body drop. The running senton across the steps left Riddle gasping for air. Dain continued the torture with a Vader Bomb off the apron. Back inside the ring, Dain hit another Vader Bomb, and another. Finally, one last Vader Bomb ended the match, with blood trickling from Matt Riddle's mouth.

Results: Killian Dain defeated Matt Riddle via pinfall.

Following the match, Riddle tried to chase Dain to the back, ending the night with an attempt at revenge.
