The road to NXT TakeOver: New Orleans starts here with the March 7th, 2018 NXT television tapings and boy was this round of tapings, for the next few episodes of NXT, jam-packed with some incredible matches and developments for the yellow brand.

The Dusty Rhodes Classic concludes, a new NXT Title was announced along with the match and competitors for said title. Tomasso Ciampa continues to cement himself as the biggest heel in the company.

Needless to say there are spoilers going forward so please don't read this if you don't want to know what happens in every episode of NXT between now and WrestleMania weekend.


March 21st Episode

Tomasso Ciampa comes out to cut a promo about how Johnny Gargano is gone and won't be back. Ciampa then starts tearing up Gargano fan signs, making a little girl cry. Suddenly Gargano reveals he was in the crowd, wearing a lucha mask and attacks Ciampa. Security intervene and escort Gargano from the arena.

Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne def. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch - Dusty Rhodes Classic First Round Match.

(No idea what happend to Moustache Mountain who were billed to take part in the tournament in the released bracket).

Ember Moon def. Aliyah - Shayna Bazler was on commentary and had a staredown with Moon after the match.

Andrade "Cien" Almas attacks Raul Mendoza from behind, as he makes his way to the ring and then cuts a promo in English and Spanish on Aleister Black.

March 28th Episode

EC3 is finally here in NXT and not in the crowd

William Regal announces that there will be a new NXT Title, the NXT North American Title and that the inaugural champion will be crowned at TakeOver: New Orleans. EC3 makes his way out and thanks Regal for making a championship just for him. Regal tells him that he'll be competing in a ladder match with five other men for the strap.

Authors of Pain def. Street Prophets - Dusty Rhodes Classic Semi Final match

(Interesting note here, Montez Ford, who is said to have a mouth injury, did not get involved in the match at all).

Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne def. SAnitY - Dusty Rhodes Classic Semi Final

Lars Sullivan def. John Silver

Dakota Kai heads to the ring but before a match can start, the cameras cut to the parking lot where Almas is attacking Aleister Black. He brings Black to the ring and uses a steel chair to take him down.

April 4th Episode

Killian Dain vs Lars Sullivan - no contest- The match devolves into a brawl between the six announced competitors in the ladder match for the NXT North American Title at NXT TakeOver.

Kairi Sane def. Vanessa Borne

The Authors of Pain vs Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong - Dusty Rhodes Classic Final - no contest - Kyle O'Reilly and Adam Cole interfere in the match attacking both teams. As a result, William Regal makes a Triple Threat match for the NXT Tag Team Titles and the Dusty Rhodes Classic Trophy at NXT TakeOver.

Ricochet makes his long awaited NXT debut.

Ricochet def. Chris Dijak in a singles match.
