WWE News: Paige shows support for Eva Marie's embarrasing Smackdown Live segment

Eva Marie is yet to wrestle since the draft took place

Eva Marie has never quite been the fan favourite in the WWE. Even though WWE creative has always looked to push her to the top of the women’s division, these plans have always fallen flat due to her inadequacies in the ring. Of late, however, Eva Marie has been working on her in-ring skills and is looking to become a mainstay in the WWE.

Post the brand extension and draft, rumors have been flying about Eva Marie becoming the face of the SmackDown Live women’s roster.

The WWE has been playing with the Eva Marie character on the same lines as they did when Fandango was set for a debut. His debut has been teased for weeks but finally it was at the grandest stage of all, Wrestlemania 29 that we saw him finally take to the ring against Jericho.

Eva Marie too has been developing a bit of an interesting character, to say the least. Last week, she apparently suffered a “hamstring injury” before her match against Becky Lynch. This week was no different either when she had a “Wardrobe Malfunction” and couldn’t compete again. It appears as if the WWE is trying to use the ‘You Can’t Wrestle’ chants to their advantage.

However, Eva is now receiving support from her former Total Divas co-star Paige. Paige took to Twitter to show her support to Eva and joked that the "Wardrobe Malfunction" segment made her laugh.

It was evident from her tweet that Paige has been impressed by the “delayed debut” gimmick. Eva Marie also reciprocated her gratitude with a tweet.

After the wardrobe fiasco with Eva Marie, Becky Lynch invited any of the women on the roster to take Eva's place, and Alexa Bliss made her in-ring debut.

Eva Marie later made a second entrance as the match was going on and commentator JBL compared it to Michael Jordan's flu game. Eva distracted Lynch, allowing Alexa Bliss to pick up a win on her 25th birthday.

This build-a-heel gimmick has not been very helpful in the past, and it’s uncertain as to what extent Eva will be able to pull it off. The main objective the WWE creative is trying to achieve is to make the fans hate the character for her arrogance, but when it drags on too long, the fans have been known to simply not care anymore.
