WWE RAW 24th February 2014 - 5 promising developments

The Undertaker

The WWE Network kicked off and thus began a highly anticipated Raw which had many things to remember it by. Some great and some disappointing. The one striking disappointment is that Daniel Bryan laid the foundation for a match against Triple H. I guess Batista signed with the WWE because he was guaranteed a Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania victory. Otherwise, it is really easy to put Daniel Bryan in the main event. One last beacon of hope is that Punk returns and fights Triple H finally or another far off possibility is that if Daniel Bryan wins against Triple H, include him in the main event.

All that said, here are some moments which were promising developments for the very near future called Wrestlemania.

“There ain’t no grave that can hold my body down.”

The Undertaker

The Undertaker returned and literally stamped his signature to make his match against Lesnar official. The crowd of course erupted at his spectacular entrance and then they leapt a whole lot more after Lesnar crashed through the table thanks to THE chokeslam.

Undertaker was one of the many legends Lesnar took head on and vanquished during his initial run in the WWE. Much has been said about their not so friendly backstage equation in the past and they even had a staredown back at UFC when Undertaker was in attendance in the crowd to watch a fight and in the middle of his interview with Ariel Helwani, Lesnar passed by and promptly paid some heed to the Undertaker.

There is sure to be a lot of history that might come into the fray in the coming weeks.

Their feud is sure to gather quite a storm.

United they still stand

The Shield

The Shield

While Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt were entangled in a singles match with the hounds and the family NOT at ringside, hardly would one expect the crowd to chant ‘Overrated’ and ‘Husky Harris’ but Green Bay did exactly that. But then came the climax of the bout when Rollins pulled off one of his magnificent aerial maneuvers on Rowan and harper and just when we thought the split is visible with Dean Ambrose not showing up, AMBROSE SHOWED UP! He still ended up costing a win for Reigns but had he not come, the picture would have been different.

But Wyatt set the tables for a Cena match at Wrestlemania and what is the biggest show of them all going to do without the involvement of one of its biggest stars? So that all the more makes the Wyatt-Cena match set in stone.

So, even if they ended Raw on a united note there was still some vulnerability felt in that stand. This might easily be a careful first step towards their inevitable split in the future and maybe that might happen just before Wrestlemania.

So is there a triple treat match in sight at Wrestlemania for this trio?

Or is there another Wyatt-Shield showdown on the cards with Cena this time spoiling things for Wyatt?

Summer Rae as a Heel

Summer Rae with Fandango

Summer Rae with Fandango

Sure, she lost on Raw but her ability to stay in character is commendable. It was easy to hate her arrogance and her sheer disregard for others at NXT and the silver linings in her match with Emma were her little tirades towards Santino. Also, her matches with Emma at NXT were much better and hence their feud has much more potential than the WWE wants us to see.

AND, Emma’s submission move is impressive.

The Rise and Rise of Cesaro

Antonio Cesaro

Antonio Cesaro

The ending to his match with fellow name changer Big E was specifically interesting as it showed some possibility of an impending split within the Real Americans, and it sure looks like WWE finally has something good planned for Cesaro. This past month has been a real visual treat of Cesaro’s impressive wrestling skills. It shall only get better, it seems.

Acknowledging the BOO-tista’s

Batista

Batista

Randy Orton and Batista engaged in a very mediocre segment following Batista’s win over Del Rio in a rematch on Raw. But the one good thing that came out of it is that the WWE is acknowledging the underwhelming reaction Batista is getting. He said ‘Deal With It’. You know, the Mania crowd might just ‘deal with it’ the way they dealt with Goldberg and Brock Lesnar at WM 20.

The foundation has already been set for Triple H to face Bryan at the Show of the Immortals but thatmeans that the main event requires some careful and serious developments. Now that they’ve acknowledged the unfavourable reactions that Batista is getting, Wrestlemania might be considered to be the perfect platform to fully turn him heel but how does that affect Orton? Will the Authority turn on him and side with Batista?

But essentially the main event of the Show of Shows should be the company’s most over face standing tall.

So the best way to ‘deal with it’ is to put a superstar who can garner a lot of support from the crowd. YES?
