WWE RAW: 4 Reasons why The Fiend attacked Cesaro after the show went off-air

After a controversial ending to the recently concluded Hell in a Cell PPV, the entire WWE Universe was eager to know how would the company right the wrongs that they felt that they did this Sunday?

In one of the more highly anticipated matches of recent times, Seth Rollins was scheduled to defend his Universal Championship against the reincarnated and sadistic new version of Bray Wyatt inside Hell in a Cell. While the match was thrilling, the no-contest ending left everyone with a sour taste in the mouth - with many even calling it one of the worst endings ever.

Throughout the Monday Night RAW that followed, fans were eagerly waiting for either of the two to appear and continue the narrative - or at least give some explanation as to why the match ended that way it did. Much to the displeasure of the fans, none of the two appeared throughout the three hours - with the first-ever mention of the Hell in a Cell main event on RAW coming in the last hour of the show.

Thankfully, the fans in attendance didn't leave entirely empty-handed, so to speak, as The Fiend made his presence felt after RAW went off the air during the dark main event between Cesaro and The Miz. He went on to attack the Swiss Cyborg, in his typical scary fashion, using the Mandible Claw.

But, what was the purpose behind this attack? In continuation of our constant analysis of The Fiend's various attacks in the past weeks, let's deeper dive and look at the four potential reasons why he attacked Cesaro after RAW went off-air.

#4 To set up a future feud with Cesaro

Many fans (including this writer) were skeptical about The Fiend being thrust into the Universal Championship picture so early. It would have made more sense for him to have a few more feuds to establish his character.

This Sunday's main-event did prove that those concerns were not unjustified, as the momentum of Wyatt did take a hit with that ending.

The simplest explanation possible? This attack on Cesaro could be a hint towards a future feud between the New New Face of Fear and the Swiss Cyborg. Wyatt and Cesaro have hardly crossed paths at all in the past during the Wyatt Family days, and a program between the two could turn out to be really good.

One can argue that it would have made more sense to do this on TV and it's probably correct - unless our next point is true.

#3 To establish the unpredictability of the character

Ever since the debut of Bray Wyatt's new gimmick after WrestleMania 35, one thing that has been consistent about it has been the unpredictability that surrounds it. This has also, coincidentally enough, been one of the major reasons behind its immense success.

Week after week, fans tune in to find out what direction Wyatt's character will take and it hardly has it ever been predictable. You can just never guess what the evil genius has planned - be it the Firefly Funhouse episodes, the puppets appearing in the background on RAW, or the actual debut of The Fiend when he took out Finn Balor, every aspect has been unpredictable.

Not showing up on TV during RAW only to surprise everyone with an appearance off-air furthers the unpredictable nature of the character. As Wyatt has himself uttered numerous times, "No one is safe". The Fiend can appear anywhere, anytime, and take out anyone just because he wants to, which makes him even scarier than he already is.

Many fans have tried to find some pattern in the way he is targetting his opponents, but all efforts have been unsuccessful so far. Do you have any theories for the same? We invite you, our dear reader to share them in the comments below.

#2 To show him being unaffected after that Hell in a Cell war

How can one survive that so easily?
How can one survive that so easily?

As mentioned in the opening slide, it was not just Bray Wyatt but also the Universal Champion Seth Rollins who didn't show up on RAW. As very well put by Riju in his analysis of the same, the reason could have been to sell the gruesome war that they had inside the Hell in a Cell.

While we all saw Seth Rollins bleeding heavily from his mouth after the post-match Mandible Claw applied by The Fiend on him, Wyatt himself suffered a merciless beat down at the hands of the Beastslayer inside the deadly structure. How can you be unaffected after almost a dozen stomps, chair and ladder shots to head, not to mention the sledgehammer shot that ultimately caused the referee to stop the match? It was a beating bad enough to get the ref to call a Hell in a Cell match.

Well, The Fiend making an appearance tonight could have been a way to put out a statement that he was unaffected, even after that vicious attack inside the Hell in a Cell, unlike Rollins who probably was in no condition to return to the ring immediately after that encounter.

The Fiend has been booked as one of the most powerful characters in recent memory. The question is - how do you stop this demonic entity from running wild through the entire roster?

#1 To keep the fans guessing about his brand status after the draft

Where should The Fiend be drafted?
Where should The Fiend be drafted?

After an eventful last week which saw a new look and many changes for RAW, as well as the debut of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX, the main focus this week is on the upcoming draft which will take place first on SmackDown on October 11, and then on the following RAW on October 14.

Among the many speculations of which Superstar will be drafted to which brand, one of the biggest questions on everyone's mind is about the status of The Fiend after the brand draft. Will Bray Wyatt become a part of the blue brand or stay in the red one? The internet is full of theories for both the cases - with some even claiming that he should not be restricted to any single brand.

Many believe that since the Fiend has been promoted so heavily on FOX, with small blink-and-miss appearances between other programs as well, he will be going to SmackDown. But WWE recently tweeted to announce a rematch between Wyatt and Rollins for the Universal Championship at Survivor Series, which they removed immediately - suggesting that he'll stay on RAW.

A complete no-show on RAW would have led fans to expect him to show up on SmackDown this Friday but with this appearance, the fans have again been left guessing as to what would be the status of The Fiend after the draft?
