WWE Raw: 5 moments from the show that surprised everyone (February 25, 2019)

Raw managed to end the month of February with a bang and delivered one of its strongest episodes of the year. With faces like Roman Reigns, Ronda Rousey, Triple H, Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, and Batista emerging during the night, there was very little chance of things going completely wrong anyway.

The night started out with an announcement that sent the WWE Universe into a frenzy and ended with a potential challenge which will rock WrestleMania 35 to its core.

In the middle, we watched a couple of matches end in No Contests and an Intercontinental Championship match between Lio Rush and Finn Balor that stole the show in terms of action.

While other matches did not hold up well, the segments during the night surely helped build up hype and drama as we head towards WrestleMania.

During the night, there were many spots which left us in shock and made us wonder where things will head from here. Take a look at the 5 biggest shockers from the night, and share your favourite moments in the comments below.

#5 The Revival facing another defeat

The Revival's reign is off to a bad start

Soon after finally crowning The Revival the Raw Tag Team Champions, it seems as though the creatives have forgotten that they are indeed the champions.

After losing to the tag team of Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano last week, The Revival faced the makeshift NXT tag team of Aleister Black and Ricochet.

In a match which was expected to be nothing less than A-grade, we witnessed a C-grade match instead which seemed hurried and established nothing at all.

WWE already displayed how it is going to push the newcomers on the main roster, and jobbing The Revival out once again on Raw to the new faces made little to no sense.

What’s even more shocking is that The Revival was chosen to job out to Black and Ricochet when there are many tag teams who are ready to do the jobbing on Raw but don’t get enough screen time.

#4 Kurt Angle returning once again

Not long ago, Angle was humiliated and defeated by Drew McIntyre in what seemed like the lowest point in the Olympic Gold Medalist’s wrestling career.

While we thought Angle was going to announce his retirement from active competition soon, his WrestleMania prospects were once again brightened as he made a return to the ring once again to the surprise of everyone.

Angle took on the enhancement talent Jinder Mahal in a match that made neither superstar look good, and beat him with the Ankle Lock. He then took out the Singh Brothers too to show that he is ready for a challenge.

Angle did not look particularly good and beating Mahal is essentially meaningless now. It was shocking to see the legendary superstar still trying to make an impact inside the squared circle.

#3 Ronda Rousey dropping the title

There was little doubt that Becky Lynch will show up on Raw once again this week, but fans expected her to bomb Ric Flair’s birthday celebrations to make an impact more than anything else.

Ronda Rousey and Natalya took on the Riott Squad in tag team action, but the match ended in a No Contest when Becky Lynch surprised everyone and emerged to attack her former friend Natalya to gain Rousey’s attention.

In the aftermath, Rousey called out Vince McMahon but instead of The Chairman of the Board, his daughter Stephanie hit the ring to confront the Raw women's champion.

Rousey demanded a match against Lynch and reminded Stephanie that she wasn’t her worker who would keep coming back for money.

To everyone’s surprise, Rousey called the title a "gaudy accessory" and laid it at the feet of The Billion Dollar Princess before walking out. This left Stephanie McMahon, and the entire WWE Universe, standing in disbelief.

#2 Another possible Shield reunion

Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins made the save on Dean Ambrose

The night kicked off with the heart of Raw returning to the ring once again. Just five months after a leukemia diagnosis that forced him to the sidelines and necessitated the forfeiture of the Universal Championship, Roman Reigns returned to Raw.

After soaking in the love and the support from the fans for some time, he announced he is in remission, drawing an enormous pop and chants of "YES!" before thanking the fans one more time. Seth Rollins joined his Shield-brother at the end of the segment.

But that didn’t end there, as later in the night Dean Ambrose took on Drew McIntyre in a No Disqualification match. Ambrose, who has recently turned face again, found himself in a bad position as he was first attacked by Elias, and later by Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin too after losing to McIntyre.

To the shock of the WWE Universe, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns emerged to make the save and after clearing out the heels from the ring, left it with Ambrose laying in the center of the ring. Tensions were teased as Reigns and Rollins stared back at their former brother to close out the segment.

#1 Batista getting Triple H’s attention

Triple H got the message loud and clear
Triple H got the message loud and clear

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon made their way to the ring to close out a solid episode, with many men and women from the Raw roster lining the stage in preparation for Ric Flair's 70th birthday celebration.

Next in were Shawn Michaels, Ricky Steamboat, Kurt Angle, and Sting, who made it to the ring before a video package celebrating The Nature Boy's iconic career was screened.

Triple H introduced Ric Flair next, but a backstage camera caught Batista heading into Flair's locker room. Batista dragged a seemingly lifeless body of the 16-time champion into the hallway and asked The Cerebral Assassin if he had his attention now.

This left everyone in shock, as Batista has time and time again shown his respect to Ric Flair in the past. Why Batista would attack Flair to get Triple H’s attention is yet to be seen, but it seemed as though WWE worked hard to reverse the roles of face and heel from the SmackDown 1000 episode where tension between the two men was teased.
