AJ Styles was a heel when he was on SmackDown Live, but he was so incredibly popular that the audience eventually turned him babyface. But then he's been a babyface for such a long time now, that his character could go stale. We saw how a reboot in Daniel Bryan's character helped him out significantly.
The same could be said for Seth Rollins as well, in my opinion. Sure, he's the face of Monday Night RAW and the top babyface in the company but we've noticed how the cheers have been declining in intensity over time. It would serve Seth Rollins well to potentially go heel down the line.
As far as this feud is concerned, only one of the two men will potentially become a bad guy, I suppose. WWE does not like babyface vs. babyface contests.
