WWE RAW Preview: December 17th, 2018

The Boss is back!
The Boss is back!

TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs is now in the books and what a Pay-Per-View it was! Admittedly, RAW hasn't really been the best of late. The direction they were heading in just wasn't good.

But that just goes to prove the power of one good show. Suddenly, everyone is excited for RAW again and everyone is excited about what's next for their favourite WWE Superstars. One thing is for sure, the direction is going to take a drastic turn by the end of the year.

This episode is going to be far more exciting than next week, which will mostly just be a generic Christmas special where not much happens. But this week, we're in for a big shake-up!

Baron Corbin is no longer the General Manager-elect. He's been removed from his authoritarian position, and that's likely to be the driving arc this RAW. Things are getting heated and exciting. Here's what you need to look forward to this coming episode on the red brand tonight.

The fallout of Baron Corbin's fall from power

Baron Corbin has lost all his power. On TLC last night, Corbin found himself confronted by Strowman, still with his arm in a cast. He was clearly not medically cleared to compete, but he found an alternate route.

He got 5 other superstars (one of them being referee Heath Slater) who have suffered under Corbin's reign of tyranny, to assault Corbin. Kurt Angle also returned and attacked Corbin, leaving Strowman to get the easy pin.

Now that Corbin is out of power, the assumption would be that Kurt Angle might return, however, the commentators were quick to mention that RAW has no general manager. This could mean that Alexa Bliss, who was handling the women's division will soon be named RAW General Manager, and it could be as soon as tonight!

Vince McMahon returns

A big shake-up is coming
A big shake-up is coming

With RAW having suffered from being stale, it seems like the main man, the boss Vince McMahon, has decided to grace us with his presence. It's always exciting when he comes back because there's a presence about him that no one in WWE has. Moreover, his crowd control is phenomenal.

As for what Vince McMahon is going to announce tomorrow, that we're yet to see. The biggest speculation going around in the rumour mill is that Vince McMahon will announce another Superstar Shake-Up.

This is going to completely change the game if it happens. We're just over a month away from the road to WrestleMania to begin. However, it may not be the best decision, given that the best time is clearly post-WrestleMania. This will affect a lot of superstars' momentum.

Don't be surprised to see McMahon have a confrontation with Kurt Angle, and it's very likely that he's the man that's going to announce the next RAW GM.

Will Ronda have a "Rowdy" reaction in the TLC fallout?

Rousey got a measure of revenge, but at what cost?
Rousey got a measure of revenge, but at what cost?

If you're not too familiar with the Rousey-Charlotte-Becky arc, here's a quick summary:

Ronda Rousey was supposed to face Becky Lynch at Survivor Series in a regular champion vs champion bout. However, the bout was cancelled after Nia Jax broke Becky Lynch's nose and concussed her on the final RAW before Survivor Series.

Being medically unfit to compete, Becky Lynch chose Charlotte Flair as her replacement. Charlotte, while putting on a valiant effort, got frustrated and assaulted Rousey with a kendo stick. She further assaulted her in a move which was absolutely uncalled for.

Now, in the TLC main event last night between Lynch, Charlotte and Asuka, Rousey came out of nowhere and pushed the ladder that Charlotte and Becky were on. This cost Becky her title, Charlotte a potential win, and Asuka is now champion.

Meanwhile, earlier that night, Rousey successfully beat Nia Jax. With Jax behind her, she has her next challenge at the Royal Rumble. Will she explain her actions? And will Charlotte Flair come to RAW to feud with her as the rumours have suggested?

Finn Balor takes on Dolph Ziggler

Who will win this match-up?
Who will win this match-up?

Last night at TLC, Dolph Ziggler somewhat returned the favour to Balor when he distracted Drew McIntyre and helped Balor defeat The Scottish Psychopath.

With both stars having clear disdain towards McIntyre, one would think that they would be on the same page. Except they're not. Backstage, after his win, Balor was interviewed and Ziggler showed up, telling Balor to thank him for the win.

Balor was far from pleased and told Ziggler to not stick his nose in his business. Things got heated and their egos clashed, leaving Ziggler to attack Balor. Now, the two superstars have to face each other on RAW.

While Balor is the obvious pick to win this, beware of The Scottish Psychopath Drew McIntyre, as he may be lurking and wanting to attack both stars. Either that or something is going to happen that's going to extend the Balor-Ziggler rivalry.

The build to the Royal Rumble begins

It's that time of the year again! We're around 4 weeks away from the starting point of the road to WrestleMania. We're just over a month away from the Royal Rumble. As you know, this is where things start to heat up and superstars begin to up their game.

Starting from tonight, we're going to know which superstars announce their entry to the Royal Rumble. We already know one participant from the men and women's Royal Rumble match, R-Truth and Carmella.

The Mixed Match Challenge Season 2 Winners have earned the #30 spot, the supposedly most advantageous spot in the Rumble match (Though #27 historically has a better chance of winning).

For both the men and women, it's going to get heated and the rumble declarations shall begin. It'll be interesting to see which superstars are participating, but one thing seems to be certain - this is going to be a star-studded Rumble.

Dean Ambrose reigns supreme as the Intercontinental Champion

Ambrose is a 3-time Intercontinental Champion
Ambrose is a 3-time Intercontinental Champion

With his win over Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose has officially won his third Intercontinental Championship. It feels like the beginning of a new era on RAW. But for many fans, this wasn't the result they wanted to see.

Ambrose had to go through a war with Rollins, but whether you like it or not, there weren't any real dirty tactics that helped him win. Of course, there was that one moment where he stuck his fist out and begged Rollins to reunite. Thankfully enough, Rollins was smarter and chose not to fall for that.

The sad news for The Architect is that he didn't walk out with the Championship and he has to deal with the fact that Dean Ambrose is now the de-facto top champion of RAW (We're ignoring a certain part-time champion here).

The reign of Ambrose begins. Will Rollins jump right back in for a rematch or will he focus on other directions?

Take 3 for Braun Strowman

WWE Photo

Braun Strowman successfully defeated Baron Corbin thanks to a loophole in the rules. The fact that it was a TLC match didn't really make much sense if you think about it, but either way, it helped end the tyrannical reign of Corbin, which most fans are obviously happy about.

With that win, Strowman has secured another Universal Championship shot against Brock Lesnar - this time at the Royal Rumble. Strowman has failed twice against Lesnar and this will be his third attempt against The Beast Incarnate (Excluding a Fatal-4-Way and Triple Threat match, also featuring Lesnar as the victor).

Is Brock Lesnar in Braun Strowman's head or is The Monster Among Men more focused than ever? He's definitely going to have something to say about the Universal Champion and unsurprisingly, Lesnar won't show up. In fact, don't even be surprised if Lesnar only shows up sometime next year.
