Remembering Eddie Guerrero: 10 greatest moments of his career

6 – Defeating Kurt Angle at WrestleMania

This match was also well received critically

At WrestleMania XX, Eddie Guerrero was to defend his championship in his first defense on pay-per-view against Kurt Angle. On the same pay-per-view that Eddie won the WWE Championship, Angle defeated John Cena and The Big Show in a Triple Threat to determine the Number One Contender for the WWE Championship. The stage was set, and Guerrero used his popular tactics to win this match too.

After being held in the Ankle Lock for a while, Eddie Guerrero managed to escape, and while Kurt Angle slipped out of the ring for a breather, Guerrero loosened his boot, supposedly relieving the pain. However, as soon as Angle locked in the Ankle Lock again, he slipped out of the boot, confusing Angle, and then proceeded to roll Angle up for the pinfall victory.

5 – Standing tall with Chris Benoit

A feel-good moment

This moment also comes from WrestleMania XX. Guerrero had finished his match with Angle, and the only remaining match was the main event, between Triple H ( c ), Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Benoit won the match in a historic moment, and after the match, Benoit’s friend Eddie came out to help him celebrate, and this was a moment that wrestling fans can truly cherish forever. It showed that wrestling wasn’t all about big, muscular guys, and that smaller guys could make it too, as two small guys held the most prestigious championships in the WWE.

Although this is a huge moment that could be higher on the list, this was more of Benoit’s moment than Guerrero’s.
