The Women's Tag Team Championships were defended on the Royal Rumble kick-off show, and Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax were able to regain their titles.

Interestingly, Asuka wasn't involved in the finish of the match, since she was sent over the announce table prior to Ric Flair and Lacey Evans becoming involved in the bout.

Breaking Vince Russo and Jim Cornette update HERE.

Ahead of tonight's match, Baszler and Jax had only ever lost three matches as a team and all three came at the hands of Asuka, since The Empress has never lost a match to the former Champions.

Last night, Asuka was unable to continue this streak since she wasn't able to recover in time to help Charlotte to overcome the threat of her father, Lacey Evans, and the new Champions.

Another interesting statistic that was created last night saw Charlotte Flair become the first woman in WWE history to defend a Championship and then step into The Women's Royal Rumble on the same night, though Flair wasn't able to retain her title.
