What's the story?

Braun Strowman was attacked by Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre, and Bobby Lashley last night on Raw so that he could be written off WWE TV to have surgery.

In case you didn't know...

Strowman has been working injured for the past few months and given the fact that Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are already on the sidelines, Strowman has been someone who has been pushed to the main event level in recent weeks.

WWE has been dependent on Strowman despite his injury, but right now he requires surgery which means that the company will be without him heading into TLC.

The heart of the matter

Braun Strowman was reported to have suffered "a shattered elbow" on Raw last night after the attack at the hands of the Acting General Manager, but according to Dave Meltzer on The Wrestling Observer Radio, this was done so that Strowman could be written off WWE TV to have surgery.

“Well, I guess the biggest news is that Braun Strowman is going to have elbow surgery so the deal tonight was a cover for that. He has bone spurs in the elbow that they ‘destroyed’ was the one that he has bone spurs in.”
"It’s not a bad deal, obviously his elbow was not shattered. It’s touch and go whether he’ll be in San Jose for the match with Baron Corbin, the TLC match they announced. I guess it depends on the seriousness of the surgery.”
"The belief is he’s fine for the Royal Rumble with Brock Lesnar which they also announced surprisingly announced that match tonight. So that is the plan. So that’s the deal of what’s going on with Strowman, why they did what they did," he said via Ringsidenews.

What's next?

Braun Strowman's status for TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs is reportedly up in the air since his recovery time from surgery is unknown and he is scheduled to face Baron Corbin as part of the show.
