WWE Rumor Roundup: Details on backstage anger after Randy Orton match; Former Champion fired for gaining weight; Move retired after big botch; Bo Dallas update - 18th February 2021
Former WWE superstar Nick Dinsmore, better known as Eugene, recently spoke to Chris Jericho on the Talk is Jericho podcast. The former Tag Team Champion talked about his time in WWE and also revealed the reason for which he was fired by the company.
Eugene was part of the WWE roster from 2004 to 2007. However, he did make a return to WWE in 2009 but was released after just one televised match against The Miz. The match was a 'contract on a pole' match. The reason behind him being released was that the company felt he had put on too much weight.
“I came back and apparently they’d seen me two months earlier. I must’ve gotten heat. Either I’d got so much into bad shape or the mind was turned. But they were like, ‘We’re not selling fat, old Eugene, you’re fired.’”
Although Eugene was a part of multiple live events after his return in 2009, WWE did not see much in him as a television character and thus released Dinsmore.
