However, while Kingston's dream of becoming WWE Champion came true, it was also broken in a matter of seconds by Brock Lesnar on the first episode of SmackDown on FOX.
The Beast Incarnate managed to defeat Kofi Kingston within seconds to become a 5-time WWE Champion. Here is what Kofi Kingston had to say about his 'squash' at the hands of Lesnar speaking to Sports Illustrated:

When I found out that it was going to end the way that it did, I had a different version. But at the end of the day, we are charged with going out and playing the role, and that’s really all we can do. I was so blessed to have had the WWE Championship.
