Even though John Cena had a heel run during the initial phase of his career, he has been WWE's go-to babyface for a long time. Though Cena is now with the WWE only in a part-time capacity, he has spent the majority of his career as a babyface.

However, former WWE writer Matt McCarthy of We Watch Wrestling has revealed that Vince McMahon wanted Cena to turn heel. Vince McMahon's plan was to have Cena be a heel in some places but a face in other places. The 16-time World Champion wasn't too interested in that plan as he wanted to go all-out as a heel if given the chance.

"Vince kept trying to figure out how do we do like a Bret Hart thing? Where he’s a heel in some places, but he’s a babyface in the rest of the places. Cena was like, ‘If I’m going heel, I want to go full heel.’" (H/T WrestleZone)

Fans have been wanting John Cean to turn heel at least once since his rise to the top of the company. However, that may not be happening anytime soon, if at all. With Cena's in-ring career nearly wrapped up, one has to wonder if there's time to get a villainous Cena before he hangs the boots up for good.
