The Empress of Tomorrow was handed the title during Paul Heyman's regime, and now that Heyman is no longer the Executive Director of RAW, there are questions about her status and future as the champion.
Tom Colohue revealed on the latest edition of the Dropkick DiSKussions podcast that in addition to Paul Heyman, Becky Lynch has also been one of the Asuka's biggest supporters backstage.
The Man reportedly worked really hard to put over Asuka, and her efforts have paid dividends as the Japenese Superstar is currently having a decent run with the title.
Tom also added while Heyman's ouster may have an effect, it may not harm Asuka's ongoing push.
"I would say, definitely. Asuka is someone Paul Heyman really worked hard to push, but also Becky Lynch worked very hard to push Asuka. She chose to work with Asuka and put Asuka over a much as possible, and that definitely had a play in Asuka's ascension to the Championship. So definitely would have an effect but that doesn't necessarily mean her push is going to be harmed."
