Corbin to be pushed as a top star?

What’s the story?

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Baron Corbin is supposed to be a top star on SmackDown LIVE by the end of the year.

In case you didn’t know....

Corbin tried his hand at football and boxing before signing with WWE. He represented the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals during his football career. The Lone Wolf is also a two-time Amateur Kansas-Missouri Golden Gloves regional champion; he also holds a win in the Golden Gloves National Tournament of Champions.

The heart of the matter

According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE is high on Baron Corbin. Corbin is expected to be a top star on SmackDown by the end of 2017. The Observer also notes that WWE might be higher on Corbin when compared to Braun Strowman, who is also getting a big push.

What's Next?

Baron Corbin has been around SmackDown LIVE’s main event scene for quite some time now. He had a strong showing last week in the triple threat match that also featured Sami Zayn and AJ Styles. This week around, Corbin shared the ring with AJ Styles in a singles match.

Baron Corbin’s progress is likely to be slow. However, he looks set to receive a shot at the WWE Championship in the near future.

Author’s take

Even though Corbin has only been wrestling for four years, he has shown tremendous improvement during his time in WWE. The fact that he’s being touted as a top star in such a short time span of time is an impressive achievement.Being on SmackDown boosts his chances of becoming a top star as well.

The fact that WWE is more impressed by Corbin than Strowman also seems to make a lot of sense. Although Strowman is receiving a monstrous push, his momentum is likely to fizzle out after he loses to Reigns and Lesnar. On the other hand, Corbin has shown more character development than Strowman, and this will aid the Lone Wolf in the long run.
