What's the story?

Chris Jericho is making all the right noises as he prepares for the next chapter in his legendary career as part of the All Elite Wrestling Roster. The WWE veteran is one of the marquee signings of AEW and is expected to feature prominently in the promotion's grand scheme of things.

If the report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter is anything to go by then The Ayatollah of Rock n' Rolla has already set his sights on a possible match against the biggest Superstar currently in the WWE, Brock Lesnar.

In case you didn't know...

Y2J's stock has risen considerably since he returned to the WWE in 2016 and went on to have a memorable angle with Kevin Owens. 'The list' became a phenomenon amongst wrestling circles and added a new dimension to the glittering resume of the 6-time WWE World Champion.

The 48-year-old veteran didn't stop there as he expanded his horizons by indulging in highly successful storylines with Kenny Omega and Tetsuya Naito for New Japan Pro Wrestling.

His Rock n' Wrestling Rager at Sea was a big hit in October 2018 and just when you thought Jericho would take a break after an eventful 2018, he announced his alliance with All Elite Wrestling.

Jericho was revealed as one of the top signings during AEW's media event on January 2018 and it set the balling rolling for a noticeable shift in the landscape of pro wrestling. Jericho has stated that he stands to make more money in AEW than any of his stints with WWE. And naturally, this has elicited surprising reactions backstage in the WWE, wherein talents have been contemplating jumping ship to the new promotion which is funded by the affluent Khan family.

If that wasn't enough, Jericho is planning something that would surely not go down too well with Vince McMahon...

The heart of the matter

As per Wrestling Observer, Jericho's recent tweets in which he took a shot at WWE Universal Champion were done with the intention to set up a potential match, presumably for AEW. The Tweets have since been deleted, however, we managed to take a screenshot in nick of time:

Isn't it ironic that Y2J called out Lesnar for his bloated gut?

It has widely been reported that Cody Rhodes and co. have their eyes on Lesnar and have shown interest in signing the former UFC Champion. It was also speculated that Paul Heyman would be in charge of the negotiations with WWE, AEW, and UFC once Lesnar's current WWE contract expires after WrestleMania 35.

While Jericho does want a big match against the Beast Incarnate, it is highly unlikely to happen as Vince McMahon would expectedly be willing to pay any amount to keep his most prized employee from leaving the promotion.

The WWE seems to have already lost Dean Ambrose and Hideo Itami and would not want to lose Lesnar, especially to rising a competitor in AEW.

What's next?

The WWE and AEW are engaged in an all-out bidding war right now! While Lesnar may eventually be convinced by McMahon to stay with WWE, we trust Jericho to aggressively push his new employers to pursue the signature of the sought-after Raw Superstar.

Lesnar and Jericho, after all, have a turbulent history with each other as they were involved in a backstage scuffle after the Beast's infamous SummerSlam match against Randy Orton.

Will Lesnar leave WWE for AEW if the money is right? Will we get to see a Jericho vs. Lesnar feud outside WWE? Most importantly, would you pay to watch the two veterans go at it inside an AEW ring?
