WWE Rumors: Hurricane Helms is on his way back to WWE

Stand back, there's a Hurricane coming...back!
Stand back, there's a Hurricane coming...back!

What's the story?

Former WWE Tag Team Champion Gregory "Hurricane" Helms will be returning to WWE very shortly.

Sadly, though, it won't be as an on-screen character, as Helms has been offered a role - either as a backstage producer or at the WWE Performance Center as a full-time trainer after a successful week in Orlando last year.

In case you didn’t know...

Hurricane spent almost ten years with WWE, as well as some time in WCW and TNA, and his return just one year ago at the 2-18 Royal Rumble was met with an unreal pop.

The former two-time Cruiserweight Champion, former European Champion, Hardcore Champion and the Tag Team Champion is infamous for trying to Chokeslam both Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H at the same time, then trying to Chokeslam John Cena on his return - a spot replicated at the ALL IN event too when Hurricane landed his much-anticipated double Chokeslam.

There's no doubt Hurricane is still a huge fan favourite, as we also witnessed at ALL IN, but he has the same effect backstage too. Helms' experience in the wrestling ring also makes him a huge asset for any company - and WWE utilised his experience as a trainer recently.

The heart of the matter

Fightful and Wrestling Inc are reporting today that Shane Helms is headed back to WWE in the role of a backstage producer or a trainer for WWE.

Helms was in Phoenix, Arizona for the Royal Rumble negotiating with WWE, with Fightful confirming that the original offer was as a full-time NXT coach at the WWE Performance Center. But much like with Abyss and Sonjay Dutt's signings, the specific role is as yet unconfirmed.

What’s next?

Well, only time will tell regarding whether we see Hurricane on screen or if Helms will purely be working behind the scenes.
