What's the story?

Brock Lesnar's future after WrestleMania 35 has been a matter of big debate in wrestling as well as MMA circles. The former UFC Champion has reportedly set his sights on returning to the Octagon, however, he is also keeping his options open as his current contract with WWE comes to an end soon.

Lesnar re-entered the U.S. AntiUSADA drug testing pool, which convinced the fans about his jump to the UFC. Dave Meltzer revealed on the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio that Lesnar has not taken himself off the USADA pool as that would give WWE the idea that he wants to go to the UFC.

This would hamper any contract negotiations between the two parties.

In case you didn't know...

Lesnar has held onto the WWE Universal Champion ever since he won it from Braun Strowman at last year's Crown Jewel PPV on November 2nd, 2018.

The Beast Incarnate has since had just had two matches which have been against Daniel Bryan and Finn Balor at Survivor Series and Royal Rumble respectively.

He is scheduled to defend the strap against Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35 and it has been widely speculated that he would be dropping the title to facilitate a move away from the WWE.

The heart of the matter

Lesnar is rumored to get into another round of negotiations sometime soon and being under USADA's umbrella sends a strong message to Vince McMahon about his desire to got to UFC, according to Dave Meltzer.

McMahon would certainly want to outbid any possible competitors to tie up his most lucrative employee to another deal. However, it's a stacked playing field as AEW and UFC are both said to be contention to get Lesnar's signature.

Dana White recently stated in the post-fight press conference of UFC 235 that the Lesnar fight is earmarked for Cormier and that he would be waiting for the Universal Champion's call.

What's next?

While Lesnar would love to get back to the UFC, he would have to pay off the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) fine to fight again. The Beast, though, loves the big money and it would all come down to who offers him the most profitable deal at the end of the day.
