Is Swagger on his way to the Impact Zone?

Jack Swagger set to join Impact?

What’s the story?

While speaking to Wrestle Zone, Jack Swagger said that he intended to compete “everywhere” once his 90-day non-compete clause with WWE ended. The former Money In The Bank winner then went on to hint that there was a chance that he could be headed to Impact Wrestling.

In case you didn’t know...

Jack Swagger started his pro wrestling career with WWE’s former developmental system Deep South Wrestling back in 2006. During his WWE career, Swagger won the Money In The Bank ladder and is also a former WWE World heavyweight Champion. However, in recent years, Swagger has been directionless and floundering on the lower card.

Having spent his entire pro career with WWE, Swagger asked for his release earlier this year. WWE granted his release with the official date being March 13th, 2017.

The heart of the matter

Swagger recently spoke about his future once his 90-day non-compete clause was over. He stated his desire to join Dutch Mantell at Impact Wrestling during the interview, saying:

“It would be awesome to work with Dirty Dutch Mantell again, good friend of mine. So we’ll just have to see. I’m in the process of lining up a calendar, and getting a lot of shows, I think I’m booked for the summer with shows.”

What’s next?

Swagger has already announced that he will be a part of House Of hardcore’s tour of Australia later this year. We don’t really know for sure what will happen after that, but Swagger has confirmed his desire to travel the indies.  With his friend Dutch Mantell in a backstage position at Impact, that is a very likely destination.

Author’s take

With Swagger now free from his WWE contract, a move to Impact Wrestling may be the best move for him. Former WWE Superstars have often gotten significant pushes at Impact/TNA (to varying degrees of success), and Swagger will have a platform to rebuild his career.
