WWE Rumors: John Cena to act in Thor:Ragnarok movie as himself

Fantasy warfare all set to be real this time?

John Cena’s accomplishments outside the WWE continues to grow as apparently, he has landed himself a role in Thor: Ragnarok. According to inquisitr.com, he is rumoured to star as himself. Cena’s name was included in the cast of the film on the official IMDb page.

As a model for kids around the world, the visual of Cena fighting against Thor in a gladiator arena will be a dream come true. Cena has built himself as a real-life superhero figure after portraying a character, who never gives up and rarely loses, this might have been a factor behind the casting.

The fact that has to be noted is that neither Cena or the director of the film Taika Waititi or Marvel have acknowledged the casting yet. The IMDb page is open for editing, and anyone might have done it, but it is too soon to rule it out.

Thor: Ragnarok finished up its production last month after filming the majority of the scenes in Australia. Here is a tweet by the film’s director confirming the wrapping of the shooting schedule:

Cena will join an ensemble cast of major Hollywood stars such as Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch and Anthony Hopkins.

Cena is currently taking time off from WWE to shoot the second season of his Fox reality show, American Grit. Cena has always emphasised on his acting career after making his debut in The Marine and continued to star in several other films such as 12 Rounds, The Reunion, Trainwreck and Sisters.

Cena is currently scheduled to appear on the December 26th house show, where he is advertised to face AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose. His return date to TV has constantly been swirling after recent rumours suggest that a rift has occurred between Cena and the WWE over his return date.

Cena is most likely to come back on television for the 2017 Royal Rumble to start the build for his match at Wrestlemania 33.

Vince might smell money at the prospect of Cena starring in such a major film, and this might reflect on his future matches. The much-anticipated heel turn of Cena might be affected if this happens. Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to hit theatres on November 3, 2017.
