It was rumoured before Summerslam this year that UFC Strawweight star was set to appear at the biggest party of the summer. However, that did not happen. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirmed that Paige VanZant was booked for Summerslam before pulling out when asked if he could see any UFC fighters performing or appearing at WWE events in the future
VanZant herself at the time denied appearing on Summerslam. She said that at that moment, she was focusing on her then-upcoming fight against Bec Rawlings just a week after Summerslam. It looks like the focus paid off because she ended up knocking out Bec Rawlings within the second round of their fight.
It is no secret that WWE has been trying to get Ronda Rousey for Wrestlemania for a while now. They were unable to get her to appear at Wrestlemania 32 this year because she involved in the shooting of a film in Indonesia at the time. Stephanie McMahon on her own admission has said that WWE would definitely try to get Ronda Rousey, once she is done with MMA.
While VanZant does not hold the star power that Ronda Rousey does, she is still a rising star in her own right. She got involved in the mainstream when she participated in Dancing With The Stars in their 22nd season, where she was the runner-up. That itself rose her stock immensely.
While VanZant did deny being involved with WWE, she admitted that in the future, she would love to do whatever they have for her. So it may not be long before we see the rising star in the WWE!
