What's the story?

When The IIconics won the Women's Tag Team Titles from Bayley and Sasha Banks at WWE WrestleMania 35, it was a feel-good moment for the two ladies as they have been best friends for an extremely long time.

While it was strange for such a quick title change, it has also been an odd run for the new champions with sporadic appearances on TV. The real reason behind their absence, according to the Wrestling Observer Radio, is because Peyton Royce and Shawn Spears are getting married. [H/T WrestleTalk]

In case you didn't know...

The IIconics were among the six teams in the Elimination Chamber match to crown the inaugural Women's Tag Team Champions. They lost at EC but ultimately made it into a Fatal Four Way match for the titles at WrestleMania 35. They won ultimately won the titles The Show of Shows.

After WrestleMania, Paige announced that she would be bringing a new team to SmackDown who would challenge for the Women's Tag Titles. She revealed her team to be the Kabuki Warriors, a team consisting of Kairi Sane and Asuka.

While the feud was teased, the two teams haven't had an official match for the titles. Both teams have appeared randomly in backstage segments during SmackDown, but that has been it.

The heart of the matter

Now that the IIconics have been away from TV for a few weeks, eyes have turned to what the current Women's Tag Champs are doing. According to the Wrestling Observer Radio, the reason that they have been off of TV is because Peyton Royce is getting married to Shawn Spears (the former Tye Dillinger) 'in the next few weeks'.

Because of the impending nuptials, Royce has been given time away from WWE.

What's next?

Once the Australian duo returns to TV, expect them to restart their feud with the Kabuki Warriors. The match will likely take place at SummerSlam since neither team has been on SmackDown or on PPVs lately.
