The Coronavirus outbreak has put all the major events around the world in jeopardy. Various sporting shows in Japan, including NJPW events, have officially been cancelled until further notice and while the situation in the United States is still under control, there is talk about the precautionary measures being taken considering the current situation.

During an interview with The Tampa Bay Times, Stephanie McMahon was asked about WrestleMania 36 possibly being nixed due to the Coronavirus.

McMahon reiterated that the health and safety of the fans and Superstars come first and the company won't do anything to put anyone in a bad situation. That's a risk that the company just isn't willing to take.

“The health and safety of not only our fan base, but also our Superstars, really does come first. We don’t want to put anyone in a bad situation ever, regardless of the circumstance. Those are not risks worth taking.”

Jonathan Saboor, WWE's Executive Vice President for Special Events, said that the WWE is constantly monitoring the global situation and discussions are ongoing internally.

“Given the number of live events that (WWE) does, it’s constantly monitoring global events. There are active and ongoing discussions at play internally, like there are in any sector of American business, and certainly families as a whole. So I think those will continue.”

As of this writing, WrestleMania 36 will go ahead as planned.
