What's the story?

Seth Rollins is currently struggling with a back injury and the former World Champion was expected to be cleared if he was able to sit out Elimination Chamber, but this wasn't the case.

In case you didn't know...

Rollins suffered a back injury long before he was thrown into the main event picture heading into WrestleMania and has been struggling since The Royal Rumble. WWE has allowed The Architect to sit out of the action over the past few weeks so that he can recover in time to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.

Rollins wasn't part of Elimination Chamber on Sunday night, but he was able to be part of Monday Night Raw despite not being cleared for competition.

The heart of the matter

Monday Night Raw this week was a huge hit with many WWE fans, but even though NXT call-ups dominated the action, it appears that a number of late changes were forced to be made because Seth Rollins wasn't cleared ahead of the show.

According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, Rollins was originally supposed to be part of a number of segments on this week's show, but instead, he was reduced to one segment backstage alongside Dean Ambrose.

"The show was built around Seth Rollins. Everyone thought that he’d be okay. He doesn’t need surgery, he just needs rest. They thought that he would be cleared at any time and he wasn’t cleared. He’s probably not far from being cleared. He was there, but a lot of his segments that involved him being in the ring had to be removed.”

What's next?

Rollins is expected to be cleared for competition ahead of his match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.
