WWE Rumors: The Rock to return on the 900th episode of SmackDown Live

Would SmackDown spawn another iconic frame as this?

The excitement is palpable as the much-anticipated 900th episode of SmackDown is almost upon us. The Undertaker and Edge are all set to make their WWE returns on the major episode of SmackDown that would also have an Intercontinental Championship match between The Miz and current Champion Dolph Ziggler.

Here is a promo WWE put out to the Undertaker’s return and Edge’s Cutting Edge segment:

If The Undertaker and Edge returning weren’t enough, WWE might be planning on getting the Great One back for the historic edition of SmackDown. The WWE website has been flooded with articles, photo compilations and videos of the Rock, and if this is any indication, the fans at the Mohegan Sun Arena are in for an electrifying surprise.

A photo album released by the WWE that has The Rock and Undertaker as the thumbnail adds fuel to these rumors:

Tomorrow's historic SmackDown edition would be an apt platform to kickstart the 20th year celebration of the Rock in the WWE. SmackDown’s name itself derives itself from Rock's iconic catchphrase ‘Layeth The Smacketh Down.' Thus, it’s only fitting that the most electrifying man in sports entertainment graces SmackDown with his presence.

Also, the potential return of the Rock was one of the topics of discussion on the recent Q&A session on PWInsider. The talk is that the Rock has the liberty to return whenever he wants at as he’s a bonafide megastar. As the upcoming Survivor Series marks the 20th anniversary of the Rock’s WWE debut, WWE could get The Rock back on SmackDown to build up a possible special appearance at the cross-brand PPV.

The other names who are rumored to make a special appearance on SmackDown include Kurt Angle, Teddy Long, and John Cena. Apart from the returns, a brand invasion angle is also set to happen after the men’s SmackDown team turned up on RAW along with Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan.

The special episode of SmackDown will go down as an unforgettable edition, and that’s the bottom line.
