What's the story?

As revealed on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Howard Finkel is currently dealing with terrible health issues which comes on the heels of a serious stroke that he suffered.

In case you didn't know...

Finkel joined the company in 1975 when Vince McMahon Sr. was at the helm. The WWE Hall of Famer assumed in-ring announcing duties in 1977 and has been an employee of the WWE ever since.

The outrageous longevity makes Finkel the longest tenured employee in WWE history. At 68 years old, Finkel has noticeably slowed down and has reportedly been involved in a few backstage roles in recent years. An audio clip of him introducing The Undertaker was used for the 25th-anniversary episode of Raw. Considered to be one of the most liked and respected WWE employees backstage, Finkel's iconic voice has been one of the constants despite the change of eras in WWE.

He was replaced by Lillian Garcia as the lead in-ring announcer, who herself left the WWE later on. Finkel was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.

The heart of the matter

Finkel's health took a turn for the worse after he recently suffered a serious stroke, which was revealed by Jerry 'The King' Lawler on his podcast. His health has been really poor ever since and Wrestling Observer provided a saddening update regarding the same.

His current predicament has been described as a really sad story, which is the most miserable thing we've heard all week.

Finkel is a true pioneer of the pro wrestling industry whose contributions to making WWE a global juggernaut are often undermined. His loyalty, passion, and dedication towards the business are unrivaled and we pray that he gets back to the best of health as soon as possible.

We, at Sportskeeda, send out our best wishes to the Hall of Famer, his friends, and family.
