What’s the story?

Bret Hart getting attacked at the Hall of Fame ceremony was a shocker for everyone. Nobody expected such a thing to ever take place but it has opened the eyes of several people.

Vince McMahon was certainly not happy with the incident and is now planning on having the ceremony without any fans. That's according to Brad Shepard on the Oh, You Didn’t Know podcast.

In case you didn’t know…

Zachary Madsen, a 26-year-old amateur MMA fighter from Nebraska made his way past the barricades and ran into the ring when Bret Hart and Natalya were delivering their speech. The attacker rugby-tackled the Hall of Famer but could not do anything else as a number of WWE Superstars at the ringside made their way into the ring and got hold of him.

He was charged with two counts of 3rd degree assault – one count of 3rd degree criminal trespassing and the other one interfering with a sporting event. Reports suggest that he could face 1-2 years in jail for the same.

The heart of the matter

Brad Shepard made it clear on Oh, You Didn't Know podcast that the WWE chairman was clearly unhappy with the incident. While Bret Hart did not sustain any injuries, it was a wake-up call for WWE and the security personnel.

He said:

“Vince McMahon was red-faced steaming mad over the incident with Bret Hart at the Hall Of Fame. By the way I was told that it’s not easy to make that happen. I was told that this may be the final straw for fans attending the Hall Of Fame ceremony or at least limited fan attendance at the Hall Of Fame ceremony.”

What’s next?

The next Hall of Fame ceremony will be in April 2020 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. We'll only get to know if WWE are actually banning the fans for HoF ceremony when the tickets go on sale later this year.
