WWE Rumours: Update on plans to bring Shinsuke Nakamura to the main roster

The King Of Strong Style is now the face of NXT

Shinsuke Nakamura is the face of NXT. The only person who won the NXT Champion as fast as he did was Kevin Owens. However, when he was signed, it was reported that he was making "main event level" money. This was an indicator that he wasn't signed just for NXT.

However, Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that he wouldn't be coming up anytime soon.

Right now there are no plans for bringing Nakamura to the main roster. At least for now, he’s pegged to be the flagship star of the NXT brand.

There has been speculation, that one of the main reasons Nakamura was brought over to NXT, was to increase WWE Network subscriptions in Japan. If this is true, then it is highly likely he will be on NXT for a while.

Also, the fact of the matter is, since he took over the role of being the face of the brand from Finn Balor, it will take some time to groom another person to inherit the role, once it is time for his inevitable call-up to the main roster.

He is scheduled to face Samoa Joe in the main event of NXT Takeover: Toronto, where he will defend the NXT Championship in a rematch. It is speculated that the time for Samoa Joe’s call-up to the main roster is very soon and that he will be on the main roster on the road to Wrestlemania next year.

Right now, however, he is embroiled in an intense rivalry with Shinsuke Nakamura, which saw him viciously assault the NXT Champion and several other NXT competitors; in the hope of proving a point to William Regal to get his title back. However, The King Of Strong Style struck back:
