WWE SmackDown - 5 Surprises that could happen- Newly drafted Superstar confronts Roman Reigns, Faction splits up, New member in the Wyatt Family?

Who will step up to face The Big Dog next?
Who will step up to face The Big Dog next?

This is not just any episode of WWE SmackDown because this week's episode also marks the onset of the WWE 2020 Draft, which begins on WWE SmackDown and carries on to RAW the following week, where the rosters will be finalized. And if that wasn't enough, Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard have decided to make this one of the more loaded editions of WWE SmackDown in recent memory, because the card almost feels like a pay-per-view event.

So, with that said, it's almost guaranteed that there will be a surprise or five on WWE SmackDown this week. It is not an episode you can afford to miss and one may even go as far as to say that this may be one of the most important WWE SmackDown episodes this year.

So, with that said, here are 5 surprises that could happen.

#5 Samoa Joe gets drafted to WWE SmackDown and says that Roman Reigns isn't his Tribal Chief

The Samoan heritage that Roman Reigns so proudly represents is an integral component of his feud with Jey Uso and it could be a critical factor if the plan is for him to go up against The Rock at WrestleMania 37. And to advance the storyline in the best manner, Samoa Joe could choose to leave the commentary desk and become a part of the active WWE SmackDown roster. Roman Reigns is a formidable heel and he needs a solid babyface to work with, and Samoa Joe does seem ideal for the role, to be quite honest.

And the storyline is right here! Shortly after Samoa Joe shows up on WWE SmackDown, he could just say that he doesn't recognize Roman Reigns as his tribal chief. And so, a feud could commence.

#4 Kalisto gets drafted to RAW, while WWE SmackDown remains the home for Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado

To say that there are problems and issues in the Lucha House Party, which has been an absolutely volatile faction on WWE SmackDown, would be the understatement of the year if you've seen the events of the past few weeks. This week, their differences may finally be resolved when Kalisto gets drafted to RAW and the rest of the gang remains on WWE SmackDown.

Rey Mysterio is in the final stage of his WWE run, and on his way out, he is likely to put young talent over for the betterment of the business. For WWE SmackDown star Kalisto to feud with Rey Mysterio would be a huge step up for him because Rey Mysterio is one of the most prominently featured stars in the roster. Maybe Kalisto could also remain in the tag team division when he finds an ally in Andrade. The rest of the Lucha House Party could continue their aspirations for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

#3 Kevin Owens turns heel and joins The Wyatt Family on WWE SmackDown, alongside The Fiend and Alexa Bliss

Kevin Owens had a brush with The Fiend on WWE SmackDown last week and he did admit that, much like everyone else, even he felt a sort of change within him. We know that everyone who comes into contact with The Fiend changes and this could very well be the case with Kevin Owens when he returns to WWE SmackDown for his showdown with The Fiend.

The old version of The Wyatt Family may be done and dusted, but when The Fiend invariably and inevitably defeats Kevin Owens during their clash on WWE SmackDown, chances are that he could join the new Wyatt Family as a brand new member. Alexa Bliss from WWE SmackDown would be the other member, and honestly, someone like Aleister Black from RAW could become a part of the faction as well. Since Kevin Owens and The Fiend don't really have a history as such, beyond the incident on WWE SmackDown last week, the latter may want to 'heal' instead of 'hurt'.

#2 Sasha Banks becomes the WWE SmackDown Women's Champion, and then gets confronted by Natalya and Lana

When Becky Lynch announced her pregnancy, and it became clear that Ronda Rousey would not be returning to WWE for a while, it did seem like the WWE women's division was in peril. But Bayley and Sasha Banks stepped up to the plate and ensured that the WWE SmackDown women's division remained a focal point. Asuka did her part in the absence of Charlotte Flair on RAW, but one has to admit that Bayley was the MVP of WWE SmackDown and indeed, the entire WWE Women's Division in her truly despicable heel persona.

And now, Sasha Banks, who was the Robin to her Batman all along has the chance to become the WWE SmackDown Women's Champion in this special edition of WWE SmackDown, but could she be confronted by two women making their way from RAW?

Natalya could show up and confront Sasha Banks, setting up a great first feud for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship, with Lana in tow.

#1 Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods return to WWE SmackDown and destroy Sheamus

The New Day may have one last triumphant showing on WWE SmackDown before they are split up across two brands on RAW the following week. And so, when Big E and Sheamus brawl all across the arena on WWE SmackDown this week, there's a pretty big chance that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods could return to inflict pain and punishment against their common foe.

The topic of The New Day splitting up is one that is constantly brought up, time and time again, and this seems like the perfect opportunity to do such a split, because from the looks of it, having Big E as a part of The New Day may hamper him instead of benefiting him.

So, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods could move to RAW while Big E remains on WWE SmackDown and inches ever so close to the title held by Roman Reigns.
