WWE SmackDown Live Preview: 1 November, 2016

What’s in store for Ellsworth and AJ next?

Monday Night Raw delivered some memorable segments throughout the week, that went by thanks to Hell in a Cell and the show that followed. Backed by the Hell in a Cell matches of Sunday night and a returning Goldberg, the red brand clearly had a big say in how the week turned out for WWE.

The pressure is now on SmackDown to deliver, and with a show like Survivor Series on the horizon; the people at SmackDown would be feeling the heat for sure. In this list, we take a look at the possible segments that needs to be addressed at this week’s SmackDown Live:

#5 Randy Wyatt

A new member of the Wyatt Family?

One of the biggest talking points of last week was the turn of Randy Orton. Orton turned on Kane and helped Bray Wyatt to get a win over the Big Red Machine. The speculation about Orton being a new member of the Wyatt Family soon surfaced on the internet, and it was fueled by the picture of Orton posing with the Wyatt Family.

The fans will have plenty of questions about why Orton did what he did last week, and he will probably give a good answer as well. Kane, meanwhile, will be furious about what happened and it’s good to see the veteran finally have something meaningful to do, after a small spell of irrelevance.

#4 Revenge of the Irish

Becky will have a score to settle

Becky Lynch made her return to the WWE programming last week but she was not met with a warm welcome. Alexa Bliss, who is the number one contender for Becky’s Women’s championship, took out Becky and decided to spray paint on her. It was clearly a setback for Becky and she would look to settle the scores this time around.

Becky and Alexa are set to lock horns at WWE’s Glasgow show this month, and before that, WWE would have to make their champion look strong. We could probably see the seeds being sown for this, on the upcoming edition of SmackDown.

#3 Building the teams

The captain of SmackDown women’s team

With Hell in a Cell officially in the books, WWE is on the road to Survivor Series. And what this means, is that the company would be looking to build up the traditional elimination matches in the upcoming weeks.

Last week, Nikki Bella defeated Natalya to become the captain of SmackDown women’s team and also, the Hype Bros secured their place on the pay-per-view.

We could get to see more additions to both these matches this week on SmackDown. The interesting part about this would be the babyface – heel ratio. Nikki Bella being the leader means, that SmackDown could put together a babyface team to represent the brand.

However, at the same time, Survivor Series is the best place for pulling of turns; so the superstars that get a slot should be chosen carefully.

#2 Midcard storylines

A feud that needs to be mentioned

While the Survivor Series buildup would be a major storyline for this week’s SmackDown, there are certainly other stories in the mid card, that needs to be addressed. First from the lot, will be the Intercontinental Championship feud between Dolph Ziggler and The Miz.

This feud is far from over and even if WWE is going to put these two into traditional Survivor Series matches, a separate match would make sense as well. Another storyline that needs a mention is the feud between Spirit Squad and Heath Slater & Rhyno.

They had a match last week and it’s time for the tag team champions to move forward and venture into new territory as far as their title defence is concerned.

#1 The James Ellsworth scenario

Will he get forgiveness?

Dean Ambrose faced off against AJ Styles last week, in an attempt to become the new number one contender. All Ambrose needed was a win against AJ, and he seemed to be heading in that direction until Ellsworth decided to get involved.

Ellsworth, who was provoked by AJ Styles at one point of the match, took out AJ with a superkick; resulting in a DQ win for the WWE champion.

Ellsworth had been begging for forgiveness from Ambrose ever since, and the fallout of the last week’s main event will be worth tuning into. Most importantly, the question that needs to be answered is: who will challenge AJ Styles for the title next?
