Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton:

Ente
Who stood tall in the battle of the legends?

Jeff Hardy finally met his tormentor of the past few weeks, Randy Orton in a singles match. Orton had attacked Hardy after the latter lost his title at Extreme Rules, and would continue to assault the younger Hardy brother over the next few weeks with vicious bouts of violence. He later revealed that he had set himself on a course to knock all the 'heroes' of the WWE Universe off their pedestal. At SummerSlam, Hardy hurt himself when he missed the Swanton Bomb and landed back-first on the apron.

Randy Orton took control at the beginning against Jeff Hardy and drove the latter into the ring post. Orton continued to drive Hardy into the announce table during the break and dropped him with a back body drop.

Hardy created distance between himself and Orton, with strikes and then hit him with a Twist of Fate. Orton stopped him on the top rope and then put his finger through Hardy's ear tearing at it. Hardy stopped Orton in his tracks with a low blow and lost the match by disqualification.

He continued to assault Orton outside the ring and drove him into the announce table and then into the ring post. Hardy then threw Orton into the crowd and the two continued their fight in the technical area, where he attacked Orton with a steel chair into Orton again and again. He laid Orton out onto the table and drove a camera into his skull.

Hardy climbed to the top of a case of technical units and hit Orton with a huge Swanton Bomb. Orton was left lying in the ruins of the technical area.

Result: Randy Orton won by Disqualification.

Backstage, Renee interviewed the Bar and asked them what their plan was after The Bludgeon Brothers faced New Day in their title match on SmackDown Live.

The Bar said that whoever won would see them as the next challengers. They were interrupted by Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, both of whom said that they too would be challenging for the titles. The Bar and The Good Brothers ended up agreeing to face each other before either could challenge for the titles.
