Last week on WWE SmackDown, we saw Big E successfully retain his Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn and Apollo Crews in a brutal triple-threat match. While both Crews and Zayn are expected to continue posing a threat to the title, we expect Big E to look for new challengers on WWE SmackDown.

Big E is an extremely talented Superstar who has had a good run as a singles competitor on WWE SmackDown so far. The creative team needs to add more successful title defenses against strong contenders to ensure that Big E doesn’t lose his momentum. After all, a good run with the title will be instrumental in pushing him into the Universal Championship picture.

There are a lot of names including Daniel Bryan, Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro, Otis, Murphy, and Dominik Mysterio who can challenge Big E for the title in one-off encounters. Ultimately, he should be allowed to move closer to an opportunity to eventually engage in a feud with Roman Reigns on WWE SmackDown.
