WWE SummerSlam: 2 New Matches Announced, New Matches Revealed for WWE NXT:Takeover

Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose are slated to team up against Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper at SummerSlam

- Two new SummerSlam matches were announced at Tuesday’s WWE Smackdown tapings: Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose teaming up against Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper and Ryback defending his Intercontinental Title against Big Show and The Miz. The tag match was set up at Battleground when Harper helped Wyatt beat Reigns in a singles match. Since Ambrose is a close friend of Reigns, it makes sense to do the tag match. The original plans called for Sting to be a part of it to make it a six man tag, but that was scrapped when Erick Rowan suffered a torn biceps injury. On the contrary, WWE apparently doesn’t want to use Sting in a match even though he’s said to be in great shape.

As for the IC Title, the plan was to do Ryback vs. Big Show vs. Miz at Battleground, but Ryback suffered a staph infection prior to the match. Since Show announced the match at Smackdown, WWE is likely optimistic that Ryback will be ready to defend the title at SummerSlam. If not, maybe they will vacate it and then just do Big Show vs. Miz for the title.

Below is the updated SummerSlam card coming out of last night’s tapings:

Winner Takes All Match
WWE United States Champion John Cena vs. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins

Triple Threat for the WWE Intercontinental Title
The Miz vs. Big Show vs. Ryback

Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper vs. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose

- Below is what looks to be the updated card for the August 22nd WWE NXT "Takeover: Brooklyn" event, which will air live on the WWE Network. It’s worth noting that the Ladder Match stipulation for the main hasn’t officially been announced but it was seemingly accepted by both competitors, as seen this past week on NXT when Kevin Owens challenged NXT Champion Finn Balor to a ladder match.   Also,Triple H announced on Facebook in his Q&A this evening that Sasha Banks will defend against Bayley, who will face Becky Lynch next Wednesday night in a #1 contenders match. The event will see the debut of Apollo Crews (Uhaa Nation) debut on WWE. Here is the updated card:

Ladder Match for the NXT Title
Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor

NXT Tag Team Title Match
The Vaudevillians vs. Blake and Murphy

NXT Women’s Title Match
Bayley vs. Sasha Banks

Jushin “Thunder” Liger vs. Tyler Breeze

Samoa Joe vs. Baron Corbin

Apollo Crews (Uhaa Nation) will debut
