The Miz (C) vs Sami Zayn (for the WWE Intercontinental Championship)
Sami Zayn and Miz locked up to start off this match as Sami’s hometown crowd got firmly behind him. Sami went for a quick roll up and followed it up with a heel kick which sent Miz rolling outside. Miz then dragged Sami outside and tried to whip him into the barricade but Zayn countered and hit him with a moonsault from the barricade.
Maryse then came to her husband’s aid and distracted him as the Miz took his leg out from underneath him. Miz then rolled Sami back into the ring and hit him with a double axe-handle from the top rope. Sai fought back and went for the 10-count punches but Miz sent him crashing into the turnbuckle.
Sami sent Miz over the top rope and out of the ring and tried to go for a tope suicida but Miz grabbed him by the foot and smashed Sami’s foot into the ring post. Miz kept working on Sami but Sami managed to hit back with a clothesline out of nowhere. He followed it up with a tope suicida over the top rope.
Zayn dragged Miz back into the ring and hit a Michioku Driver for a nearfall as Zayn looked to finish Miz off. Sami then attempted a Blue Thunder Bomb but Miz countered and hit his trademark DDT for the nearfall. The A-lister then followed it up with the triple dropkick in the corner followed by his trademark jumping corner clothesline.
Just when Miz thought he had it in the bag, Sami countered a double axehandle into a Blue Thunder Bomb for the nearfall. Miz then went for a Skull Crushing Finale but Sami rolled Miz up for the nearfall. Sami followed it up with a Exploder Suplex and tried to follow it up with a Helluva Kick but Sami missed. Miz took advantage and locked him up in a Figure-4 Leglock. Zayn held on and eventually rolled to the ropes.
Miz then mocked SmackDown Live GM by hitting Zayn with Bryan’s trademark Yes kicks. Sami countered the last kicked and locked Miz into a Figure-4 Leglock of his own. The bell rang all of a sudden even though Miz hadn’t tapped out and it turned out to be Maryse ringing the bell. Miz used the distraction to roll up Sami Zayn to retain his precious Intercontinental Championship.
