WWE Survivor Series 2018 Preview: November 18th

It's the one time of the year!
It's the one time of the year!

Survivor Series is here once ag. Like how WWE loves to tell you - It's the one time of the year where RAW and SmackDown face each other in head-to-head competition!

On paper, the card itself is quite stacked. The only (but major) blow to the card happened to be the Women's Champion vs Champion match. Becky Lynch, the SmackDown Women's Champion was set to take on Ronda Rousey in what was by far the most anticipated match-up on the card.

It was built so incredibly as well, with the two even taking jab after jab on social media. Regardless, a single punch by Nia Jax seemed to dispose of those plans as Becky Lynch suffered a concussion and broken face, rendered medically unfit to complete by WWE's medical staff.

However, don't let that fool you - Survivor Series is stacked and exciting and the Interbrand warfare is set to come to a head. Here's what you need to look forward to.

10-on-10 Tag Team Traditional Survivor Series Match (Kickoff show)

The tag teams start the action
The tag teams start the action

Teams:

RAW: Bobby Roode & Chad Gable (c), The Ascension, The B-Team, The Revival, Lucha House Party

SmackDown Live: The Usos (c), The New Day, Sanity, Gallows & Anderson, The Colons

The first of three traditional Survivor Series elimination matches will see the tag teams of RAW and SmackDown Live go at it. Who are we kidding? SmackDown Live clearly has a far superior team and it's not even close. Just look at it. The only "weak link" in the team is the Colons.

The rest of the teams are quite decorated and frankly speaking, RAW doesn't really stand much of a chance here. Expect Team Blue to pick up the first win of the night.

Buddy Murphy (c) vs Mustafa Ali - WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Will Buddy Murphy's reign continue?
Will Buddy Murphy's reign continue?

can forget Ali and Murphy's classic No DQ match on 205 Live? It was an unforgettable one and Buddy Murphy now faces his first major test as Cruiserweight Champion: The high-flying heart of 205 Live - Mustafa Ali.

This match is going to be an explosive one and there's little doubt that it's all going to go right down the middle. Who will walk out of Survivor Series the Cruiserweight Champion?

AoP vs The Bar (w/ Big Show) - Tag Team Champions vs Champions

Who's going to set The Bar?
Who's going to set The Bar?

The Bar have proven in the last two years to be a formidable pairing. Together, they've won multiple tag team titles together and now stand tall as SmackDown Tag Team Champions, this time with The Big Show by their side.

AoP defeated Seth Rollins in a handicap match to win the RAW Tag Team titles and make sure you don't' sleep on them because they're far more dominant than many people realise.

It's going to be a close one to call in this heel vs heel match-up!

Seth Rollins vs Shinsuke Nakamura - Intercontinental Champion vs United States Champion

A dream match in the making
A dream match in the making

Imagine just a few years ago saying that we'd get to see Seth Rollins vs Shinsuke Nakamura at a Big 4 PPV. While Nakamura hasn't set the world on fire as US Champion, it doesn't stop the fact that it's an absolute dream match.

Expect both competitors to put on an absolute classic. This could be the potential show-stealer. Will The Architect or The Artist prevail?

Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair

An unexpected match-up
An unexpected match-up

We were scheduled to get Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey but we all know what happened. Becky Lynch then chose Charlotte Flair as her replacement and the rumoured WrestleMania 35 main event has been advanced to Survivor Series.

Here's the thing, it's too high profile a match for someone not to interfere. It's possible that there's a four horsewomen angle involved here that could possibly set up a Four Horsewomen vs Four Horsewomen match at WrestleMania 35!

Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan - Universal vs WWE Champion

A last-minute change
A last-minute change

We were originally scheduled to get Brock Lesnar vs AJ Styles 2 in an epic rematch from last year. However, on SmackDown Live, Daniel Bryan got into a brawl with Styles and The Phenomenal One then demanded that he defend the title against Bryan on the night.

Shane McMahon granted the match and in the main event, Bryan cheated to win, as he hit Styles with a low-blow and then the running knee to end Styles' historic 371-day WWE title reign. He then added insult to injury by assaulting Styles post-match and turning heel.

As a result, he replaced Styles in a match against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. Interestingly enough, though this seems like a heel vs heel match, Brock Lesnar could be babyface for one night only!

It's going to be interesting to see who the crowd gets behind in the dream match.

Women's Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match

Who's going to be the last member for SmackDown?
Who's going to be the last member for SmackDown?

Charlotte Flair was originally set to be the team leader for the blue brand but since she was chosen to be Rousey's opponent, they have a spot vacant. We expect Mandy Rose to take the spot.

Either way, both teams this year are admittedly quite underwhelming. The only two exciting performers in the teams are Asuka and Ruby Riott. It'll be interesting to see who triumphs in the match.

Men's Traditional Survivor Series Elimination match

A stacked main event
A stacked main event

Jeff Hardy replaced Daniel Bryan in the SmackDown Live team. Kurt Angle failed to make the cut but that didn't stop RAW from having an absolutely stacked team.

SmackDown Live doesn't look all that bad either, though it's a surprise that they didn't recruit Mr. Survivor Series himself - Randy Orton. Last year, Braun Strowman proved what a big threat he is by making multiple eliminations. Drew McIntyre, however, could end up being the biggest threat of them all.

As for team blue, the good thing is that they have a very diverse squad of veterans, so don't count them out!
