WWE TLC 2016 Predictions and Full match card analysis

Who will walk out of TLC as the champion?

WWE is on the verge of rolling out one of the last pay-per-view shows of 2016. This Sunday night, the promotion brings TLC from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas and an interesting card has been lined up for the show.

The WWE Championship will be on the line, as AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose go head to head in the Tables, Ladders and Chairs main event match, while all the other mid-card championships of SmackDown will also be defended.

Currently, a six match card is in place for Sunday night, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if some pre-show matches are added at the last minute. In this slide, we are going to take a closer look at all the matches announced so far, and the potential way they could end.

Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. The Wyatt Family (Tag Team Championship match)

Rhyno and Slater face their biggest challenge till date

The new Wyatt Family’s entry into the tag team championship scene has been a surprising one. When most fans had their money on either American Alpha or the Usos to go up against Heath Slater and Rhyno, WWE threw a major curveball at us, the fans, by injecting Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt.

The manner in which they earned their title shot was impressive, to say the least, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they win.

Orton and Bray, suffering a defeat at TLC, after all their dominating wins so far would make no sense. On the other hand, if they get a win, the entire Tag team division gets a new boost and will have a new found relevance, as Orton and Bray are names that belong in the main event scene.

Prediction: Wyatt Family wins.

Kalisto vs. Baron Corbin (Chairs Match)

Chance for Corbin to shine

Survivor Series would’ve been a breakout chapter for Baron Corbin if it wasn’t for the last minute change that WWE made. He was replaced in the Raw vs. SmackDown match by Shane McMahon and then went on to resume his feud with Kalisto.

These two will now face off in a chairs match at TLC, and this could serve as a platform to showcase Corbin. Corbin could dominate Kalisto and adding chairs to the match improves brutality quotient that could be brought in.

A result Corbin's favour is the only possible outcome here, and if it goes the other way, it would be a major surprise.

Prediction: Baron Corbin wins

Nikki Bella vs. Carmella (No Disqualification match)

Carmella has a big platform

While the Women’s Division of Raw has been focusing heavily on Sasha Banks and Charlotte, SmackDown has done a great job of building multiple storylines for the division. The push the Carmella vs. Nikki Bella match got throughout the build-up to TLC proves this.

Nikki still has the star power to draw big, and the exposure that Carmella gets due to this needs a special mention.

With a lot of friction between these two, the match could get violent, but the rather than letting Nikki Bella lose, WWE is likely to let a new storyline start by protecting her and letting Carmella win.

Prediction: Carmella wins

The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler (Ladder Match for Intercontinental Championship)

Ziggler and Miz could steal the show

The Miz – Dolph Ziggler saga gets another match at a PPV and this time around, the Intercontinental championship would be above the ring. Whenever WWE throws in a Ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship, the first thing that comes to everyone’s mind would be the match that Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels had.

Miz and Ziggler do have the potential to steal the show in a similar fashion. Also, the possible interference from the Spirit Squad is bound to add more drama to the whole match. Ziggler overcoming all these obstacles would be a great sight to watch, and this is the most likely outcome.

Prediction: Dolph Ziggler wins.

Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss (Tables match for Women’s championship)

Time to match Sasha and Charlotte

Women competing in special stipulation matches is turning out to be a norm in WWE’s booking for some time now. The Hell in a Cell match between Charlotte and Sasha Banks was something that set the bar for the female wrestlers. At TLC, Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss will have their first major platform to match the Sasha – Charlotte showdown, as they face off in a Tables match.

The amount of violence in the match would be low as the table would only be broken once, but the whole stipulation opens the door to add more drama and some excellent storytelling. As far as the winner is concerned, Becky is the favourite here as she still has a lot to give with her title reign.

Prediction: Becky Lynch wins

AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose (TLC match for WWE Championship)

The ending of the match will be crucial

The expectations are high for this one, because of the superstars that are involved in the match. Both AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose are known to excel in stipulation matches and with Tables, ladders and chairs involved in this one, expect some innovative and compelling action from these two.

The match is guaranteed to keep fans on the edge of their seats but what could make or break the main event is how WWE decides to end the match. The James Ellsworth card has been played so many times, and doing it again at TLC would spell disaster.

No matter how it ends, AJ Styles comes in as the favourite. There are still some interesting opponents that could challenge AJ for the title and for that to happen; he should retain.

Prediction: AJ Styles wins.
