Top 5 Hell in a Cell matches of The Undertaker

Taker has had some great HIAC matches

The Undertaker added another classic to his impressive resume after stepping into the ring in WrestleMania 32 to face Shane McMahon. While it would've been a solid match without any added on stipulations, WWE's addition of Hell in a Cell has raised the stakes even higher.

The stipulation, which has a long-running connection with The Undertaker, will once again expose why the legendary Phenom is respected so much in the business. Over the years, Taker has been through some excellent Hell in a Cell matches and as he is going to have yet another one at WrestleMania 32, here is a look back at the best matches from the lot.

Triple H vs Undertaker (WrestleMania 28)

The WrestleMania streak of The Undertaker gave us some memorable matches. One among that is his epic encounter that he had with Triple H inside Hell in a Cell. If the star power of Triple H and The Undertaker was not enough to push the match, The WWE introduced Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee to add some drama.

Hunter and Taker tore each other apart and showed the world why they had such a legendary status in the business. Taker came out winning in the end and post-match, we got to see the iconic moment of Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Undertaker walking to the backstage together which was later tagged as the end of an era.

Mankind vs Undertaker (King of the Ring 1998)

Mankind Undertaker
Probably the greatest Hell in a Cell match ever

This being the second Hell in a Cell match in WWE history, came with a lot of expectations. To top that off, it had two great performers in the form of Undertaker and Mick Foley. While the first Hell in a Cell match between Undertaker and Shawn Michaels did set a standard, this one took an entirely different path.

Foley's willingness to put his body on the line was what made the match stand out and Foley performed some bumps which people still find it hard to believe. This match has been dissected and analysed million times over so there is no need to give one more explanation for this one.

Batista vs Undertaker (Survivor Series 2007)

Survivor series
Batista actually got the better of The Undertaker

Batista, during his initial run in the company, had some rare good matches. His bout inside the cell against The Undertaker at 2007 Survivor Series was among them. The feud kick started from WrestleMania and both superstars were portrayed as baby faces throughout the battle. They had a series of matches and Taker, who came in with a wealth of experience, produced the best from Batista.

When Taker was edging close to a win, Edge, who was dressed as a camera man got involved in the match and gifted the win to Batista. The mouth watering Edge vs Undertaker rivalry began and it was a win-win situation for everyone.

Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker (Badd Blood 1997)

This was the first ever Hell in a Cell match in the WWE. Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker were entrusted with the opportunity of introducing it to the WWE fan base and they did a great job with the same. A chance to fight for the WWE championship was on the line and also, this match is remembered for an iconic WWE debut as well.

Kane showed up of nowhere in-between the match and tore off the Cell door without much trouble. Kane then went on to make a statement by attacking The Undertaker which in turn helped Shawn Michaels get the win and a shot at the championship.

Edge vs Undertaker (SummerSlam 2008)

The feud between Edge and The Undertaker is perhaps underrated. It happened in the Summer of 2008 and was hands down one of the stand out feuds in the late 2000s. Edge used to get the better of The Undertaker thanks to his then wife and General Manager Vickie Guerrero but he was forced to get inside the Cell with Taker.

Edge, who had a major size difference with The Undertaker, managed to work out a compelling story. The match had a great ending when Undertaker threw Edge through two tables before performing a Tombstone for the win. There was a post-match segment as well where Edge took some more punishment.
