Adrian Neville puts on a fine show
Talents from NXT are storming the WWE ranks and giving accomplished superstars a run for their money. Last week Sami Zayn put on a heroic show to almost snatch the title away from Cena.
This week, it was the turn of his nemesis Adrian Neville as the ‘man who gravity forgot’ accepted John Cena’s U.S title open challenge. The match was indeed an exciting one as both superstars put up a ‘this is awesome’ kind of performance. However, just when the match headed to an exciting finish, Rusev interfered and injured Cena causing a disqualification.
The Bulgarian brute wanted a piece of the champion before payback and he intended nothing but harm.
Cesaro solo show
A match is made for Payback featuring Cesaro and Kidd taking on New Day in a two out of three falls match for the tag team titles. But, you didn’t have to wait till Sunday to see the superstars in action as Cesaro took on Big E in a singles competition.
The match was completely dominated by Cesaro as he justified his title of the ‘Swiss superman’ from uppercuts to drop kicks. Cesaro was at his attacking best and it was really a shame to see him demoted to the tag team division.
The crowd gave out a huge pop to the ‘very European’ superstar and he is certainly expected to put on a show at Payback.
Chaos during the main event
When you have a Fatal Fourway match at Payback and you put two superstars in the main event on Raw, you sure as hell know that everyone else is going to come down and make a statement. That is exactly the story as Orton faced Rollins in a non-title matchup. It wasn’t long before Ambrose and Reigns and Kane and the Authority interfered resulting in utter chaos.
As fans expected, Rollins was once again surrounded by his Payback opponents and each one was kind enough to deliver their finisher on the champion. Then, the remaining guys went into a scuffle and the hometown boy Dean Ambrose stood tall as the lights faded.
The interesting aspect from this one was that Kane stood at ringside looking at the proceedings and did not try to come to Rollin’s aid.
