WWE Top five rumors of the week and analysis: 14 February, 2016

A return is 0n the cards

What plan does WWE have for Ronda Rousey? No matter how bad or good WWE is going forward with their product, there will always be enough room for rumors in the internet. The week that went by was no different as the internet fan base of WWE discussed matters such as WrestleMania, WWE’s new DVD plans, and future of Braun Strowman. While all of these do not have an immediate impact on the WWE landscape, in the long run, these look important. As we do every week, here is a look at the top five rumors of the past week and their potential impact on the WWE product.

#5 Return of Rey Mysterio

A return is 0n the cards

Rey Mysterio, who is currently working for Lucha Underground, could return to WWE once his current deal expires. There is no news on when Rey’s current deal will expire, but when it does, WWE will most probably make a jump for him. Konan recently expressed the same in an interview and as it comes from him, it could really be a possibility.

If Rey is indeed returning to the promotion, the Master of the 619 would ask for a lighter schedule. Rey is apparently not interested in working a full schedule and could end up having a schedule like that of Chris Jericho.

#4 New public face of WWE

New public face of WWE

WWE is pushing so hard to make Stephanie McMahon the new public face of the company. The company went to an extreme extent and hired a PR agency to do the same. Stephanie has been heavily active in the social ventures that WWE pushed forwards and having her as the face of the company in such matters would be a good idea considering that John Cena’s career is filled with uncertainty.

The problem with all these, however, is the character that Stephanie plays. She is portraying a heel authority figure on-screen and WWE is trying to field an exact opposite shade with their current project.

#3 Plan change for Braun Strowman

Strowman could no longer face Taker

WWE’s idea of having Braun Strowman face Undertaker at WrestleMania is apparently off the table. Vince McMahon, who was high on the plan, decided to call it quits after the fan backlash on the internet. The current WrestleMania plan for Braun Strowman is to let him win the Andre the Giant battle royal.

The battle royal would be a proving ground for Braun and if he impresses, Braun could get a match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Also, the character is micromanaged by Vince and every decision about the character is solely made by him. As for Undertaker, his opponent for WrestleMania is still not confirmed.

#2 New DVD plans of WWE

New DVD?

WWE is planning to release a new DVD about the life of Scott Hall. The story of Scott Hall, who had a roller coaster ride in both his personal and professional lives is expected to be met with warm response from the WWE fans. Meanwhile, WWE taped some footage in last week’s Raw with Daniel Bryan.

Bryan announced his retirement on the same night and the footage is expected to be part of a new Daniel Bryan original series for the WWE Network or a new WWE DVD. The backstage officials and former wrestlers associated with WWE are rumored to be saddened by the retirement of Bryan apart from the fans.

#1 WrestleMania plans for Ronda Rousey

Involvement in WrestleMania main event is a possibility

WWE is yet to give up on the idea of using Ronda Rousey performing a segment at WrestleMania 32. After a successful outing at WrestleMania 31, Ronda was rumored to have an actual wrestling match this year, but as Dana White seemed unimpressed with the idea, everything went into a downward spiral.

Currently, WWE is planning to have Triple H vs. Roman Reigns for WrestleMania 32 and Ronda could have a part in the match. The match could also see involvements from the likes of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Vince McMahon, and Stephanie McMahon. Ronda’s involvement is yet to be confirmed, and WWE could drop the news if it is indeed happening.
