What’s the story?

Speaking to the New York Post, UFC President Dana White asserted that Brock Lesnar could fight in the UFC again.

White reiterated that Lesnar could return to the sport of MMA and compete in the UFC in the near future.

In case you didn’t know…

Brock Lesnar is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion whose title reign and MMA career were adversely affected by two life-threatening bouts of diverticulitis.

Lesnar retired from the sport of MMA in December of 2011 but returned in July of 2016 for the monumental UFC 200 event.

The heart of the matter

Brock Lesnar defeated legendary knockout artist Mark Hunt at UFC 200, however, the result of the fight was overturned as the former failed a drug test, testing positive for Clomiphene. Lesnar was handed a $250,000 fine and a 1-year suspension; making him eligible to return from July 2017 onwards.

Dana White stated the following on Brock Lesnar potentially returning to the UFC—

“I think he’ll give it one more run. I just think Brock loves to fight.”

Furthermore, White reiterated the fact that the UFC would welcome Lesnar back to its roster, should the Beast Incarnate feel the itch to compete in MMA again.

What’s next?

The vast majority of professional wrestling industry experts believe that although Brock Lesnar’s contract with the WWE expires after Wrestlemania 34, he’s likely to sign with the WWE.

Lesnar, 40, has been challenged by THIS French-Cameroonian UFC Heavyweight who has previously claimed that he’d beat the Beast, however, as of this time, the Universal Champion claims to be retired from the sport of MMA.

Author’s take

Brock Lesnar is one of the best wrestlers to have ever competed in the sport of MMA, and his otherworldly athleticism further accentuated his grappling skills.

While he never quite developed the striking aspect of his MMA game, Lesnar still proved that he can hang with the elite, with his 2016 win over Mark Hunt. Would you like to see Lesnar back in the UFC’s famed Octagon or inside the WWE ring? Sound off in the comments!
