WWE Rumors: Undertaker's Wrestlemania plans

The Deadman will probably face John Cena at Wrestlemania 33.

What plans are in place for the Undertaker?

It’s almost Wrestlemania season and for most WWE fans it also means gearing up for Undertaker’s marquee matchup. Recently there were a string of rumours suggesting that Undertaker may be facing Bill Goldberg at Wrestlemania but we can unequivocally debunk those rumours as chances of that match happening are close to 0. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer recently said that even though he didn’t exactly know what the plans were the original plans for the Undertaker at ‘Mania were still unchanged.

As of now, there are also rumours of Undertaker facing off against AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble for the WWE World Championship and it seems that if the Undertaker ends up winning the championship at the Rumble then he will defend the championship at Wrestlemania 33 against John Cena. That would likely result in Cena winning the Championship at ‘Mania to eclipse Ric Flair’s 16 world championships in what could very well be Undertaker’s last match before his retirement from the squared circle.

Undertaker was reportedly supposed to face John Cena at Wrestlemania 32 but those plans eventually got shelved after Cena went down with a shoulder injury. Undertaker eventually ended up facing and beating Shane McMahon inside Hell In A Cell.

Cena vs Undertaker would likely headline Wrestlemania 33 and be treated in the same way as The Rock vs Cena from a few years ago. Undertaker recently made an appearance on the 900th episode of SmackDown, promising fans to be more active on the road to Wrestlemania which has further fuelled speculation of him having a match at the Royal Rumble. We can also note that the Undertaker was backstage at Raw this week along with his family. Raw took place in Austin, Texas which is close to where ‘Taker and his family live.

Here’s a clip of the Undertaker returning on SmackDown 900:
