WWE Weekly- Hits and Flops of the week

CM PUNK WWE NEW

CM Punk – One of the hits this week

WWE Battleground looks set to take great shape as WWE, this week, left nothing to regret. Both RAW and SmackDown this week were solid and featured some really good matches and storyline developments. CM Punk, unarguably, received one of the best pops of the year, the Shield got the taste of their own medicine and the Miz got the brunt of the Viper once again.

Without further ado let us look at the good and not so good moments of the week.

Hits:

1. 11-on-3 handicap match

The Shield were placed in an impossible match where they had to take on 11 superstars at once. Unlike the gauntlet match on SmackDown last week, the Shield did not have the numbers advantage as the entire 11 members were in the ring at the same time. The match was extremely well written and the writers need to be given special credit for that.

The Shield, quite obviously, lost this match but they went down fighting. They eliminated seven opponents with the star of the match being Roman Reigns, who eliminated four. Reigns’s spear is surely one of the most devastating ones ever. His spears are so impacting that they makes Goldberg’s spear look weak. But the match also saw Reigns being pinned for the first time in his WWE career.

2. CM Punk returns in Chicago

CM Punk, after taking a break for a week, returned to RAW this Monday and the crowd went absolutely berserk on his return. He wore the local team jersey and spoke about how people from Chicago are accustomed to fight back.

The segment was one of the best in recent memory and saw Punk and Heyman in their prime. Heyman lured Punk into a trap and unleashed his two clients on him. Punk fought back but was taken down by Ryback, who then threw him down a table near the entrance of the ramp. Punk took a nasty fall as Ryback failed to properly measure the distance between the table and himself.

3. Randy Orton

Orton has been on a violent run for the past two weeks and his opponents have had a really difficult time handling his vicious intent. RVD faced Orton on RAW and was given the beating of his life.

Miz faced Orton’s brunt for the second time in two weeks after he squared off against Orton on SmackDown this week. Orton was in his prime as he managed to knock the gas off Miz and beat him to a pulp again with a little indirect help from Triple H.

Flops

1. Alberto Del Rio

No matter how hard I try, it is almost impossible to fathom Del Rio as a champion. He is utterly boring and needs a major revamp of his character. Del Rio as I have mentioned in my previous articles needs to stay away from a title as he builds his career.

2. Santino’s Cobra

There was a time when I liked Santino and his gimmick. His cobra was one of the most hilarious finishers. But WWE took their funny segments to a new disgusting level on SmackDown this week. In this week’s show we saw the cobra fighting two snake charmers before finally gaining control. The entire match was the undoubtedly the worst written match in the history of WWE.

3. Damien Sandow

Things looked bright for Sandow after he won a match last week on Main Event. But this week things went back to square one as he was literally squashed by Big Show. To make matters worse, Sandow lost to Justin Gabriel in a recent live event, showing how much less WWE cares about its MITB briefcase holder.
