SK Exclusive: Hardy Boyz to win Ladder Match for the Raw Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 33

Will the Hardyz be “Broken” in the WWE?

What’s the story?

It appears that The Hardy Boyz will win the Raw Tag Team Titles this Sunday, as they are likely to be added to a Ladder Match.

In case you didn’t know...

As it currently stands, WWE is promoting a Triple Threat Tag Team Match, with Anderson and Gallows defending against Enzo and Cass and Sheamus and Cesaro. However, The Hardyz are heavily speculated to be returning over WrestleMania weekend and could do so in this bout, with their ROH deal ending 1st April.

WWE.com has also been hinting at a Hardy Boyz return.

The heart of the matter

Sources informed us weeks ago that there was an idea pitched for The Hardy Boyz to win the Raw Tag Championships at WrestleMania in a Ladder Match, and if we saw any ladders being used on the road to WrestleMania by the advertised competitors, then it meant the Hardyz pitch was being booked.

Well, last night on Raw, we saw exactly what we were told about, when Gallows and Anderson attacked Sheamus and Cesaro backstage with a ladder before the unlikely pairing took revenge later on in the night, by attacking Gallows and Anderson on their way to ring. This is the exact potential booking scenario we were told about, and reported on our Podcast, “The Dirty Sheets.”

What’s next?

WrestleMania 33 will take place in Orlando, FL, this Sunday.

Author’s take

While many have speculated that The Hardy Boyz would be returning on the Raw after WrestleMania, we had our doubts based on information given to us about the Raw after ‘Mania and how loaded it was already.

WrestleMania is the show of shows and it can’t be upstaged by the Raw the next night. WrestleMania needs notable events and the forever advertised, “WrestleMania moments”. The Hardy Boyz returning home to WWE and capturing the Raw WWE Tag Team Championships in a Ladder Match would certainly be a sure-fire “WrestleMania moment”.

WrestleMania traditionally does feature a Ladder match and has featured either a Money in the Bank Ladder Match or an Intercontinental Ladder Match in 7 of the last 12 years. However, with the Money in the Bank now being its own PPV and with the Intercontinental Title Match being a one-on-one contest between Ambrose and Baron Corbin, the door is open for the Raw Tag Titles to be contested in a Ladder Match.
