WWE WrestleMania 33 Rumors: Update on Nikki Bella's status after WrestleMania

John Cena and Nikki Bella reacting to the Total Bellas spoof on this week’s Smackdown Live...

What’s the story?

According to Cageside Seats, Nikki Bella may not retire after WrestleMania. It has been widely rumoured her upcoming mixed tag team match at the Show of Shows will be her last; however, it appears that she is scheduled to appear at several WWE Live events even after WrestleMania.

In case you didn’t know...

Nikki Bella had to take ten months off starting in October 2015 due to neck surgery. There have been reports indicating that she has been suffering from numbness and discomfort ever since her return at SummerSlam 2016.

The heart of the matter

The recent report by Cageside Seats seems to indicate that she will not be taking time off immediately after WrestleMania. However, Cena is going to begin filming for Daddy’s Home 2 where he will have a fairly prominent role.

However, Nikki Bella does have a significant injury history, and it is safe to assume she may be working more of a part-time schedule going forward.

What’s next?

Nikki and John have been a couple for over four years now and they get to be tag team partners at WrestleMania. Although they are expected to pick up a routine victory, the big question here is whether or not Cena is going to pop the question.

Author’s take

Neck injuries are nothing to mess around with. They have shortened the career of greats like Stone Cold Steve Austin and Edge.

I have absolutely zero problems with Nikki Bella either retiring or working a part-time schedule after WrestleMania. Would she be missed? Of course. There is a reason why she was the longest reigning WWE Divas Champion in history.

She wasn’t a wrestler when she came into the WWE, but when it is all said and done, you will definitely be able to say she had a great wrestling career.
