Coveted award to be named after Daniel Bryan

Submission specialist

When Daniel Bryan entered the WWE back in 2010 he had already achieved a lot in promotions such as Ring of Honor, NJPW, and other independent promotions. He was a class act and was known for his submission prowess.

Bryan entered through NXT and quickly rose up the ranks to beat MIZ and win his first title with the WWE – the US Championship. He quickly became a fan favorite and won the World Heavyweight Championship cashing his MITB briefcase against Big Show.

The highlight of his career came when he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 30 and sent the crowd into a frenzy. Daniel Bryan was known for his wrestling ability and just for the fact that the fans could relate to him.

Daniel Bryan won the Wrestling Observer Best Technical Wrestler of the year award every single time since 2005-2013. The only change was his name on the award which changed from Bryan Danielson – his birth name – to Daniel Bryan when he won it during his WWE run.

The Wrestling Observer have now decided to change the name of the award to the Bryan Danielson award which is a perfect name to go with the trophy which was held by the diminutive technician for so long.
