New Zealand batter Kane Williamson picked two Indians in his prediction of the players likely to dominate across formats in the generation after him. Former Kiwi captain Martin Crowe famously predicted Williamson, Joe Root, Steve Smith, and Virat Kohli as the defining generational players in 2014.

Similarly, Williamson picked the Indian batting duo of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Harry Brook, and his New Zealand teammate Rachin Ravindra as the multi-format players likely to dominate this generation. The former New Zealand captain also chose Aussie all-rounder Cameron Green as another all-format player to watch out for.

When asked about the same in an interview with The Cricket Monthly, Williamson said:

"The players that come to mind in terms of multi-format are: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rachin Ravindra, Harry Brook. And also Cam Green. Those are all outstanding players and have shown fantastic moments in all the formats. All young and their games are just growing."

Williamson lived up to Crowe's billing over a decade ago by scoring plenty across formats. The 34-year-old has amassed over 19,000 across formats, with 48 centuries in 371 matches.

How Kane Williamson's picks have fared thus far in their international career

India's Shubman Gill has dominated the ODI format thus far in his career, scoring 2,775 runs at an average of over 59 and a strike rate of almost 100 in 55 matches. However, his T20I and Test numbers are modest, with averages of 30.42 and 35.05 in 21 and 32 games, respectively.

The 25-year-old was recently appointed as India's Test captain following the retirement of Rohit Sharma from the format.

Gill's Team India teammate, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has set the Test arena on fire, scoring almost 1,800 runs at an average of 52.88 in 19 outings. The southpaw has also impressed in T20Is, averaging 36.15 at a strike rate of 164.31 in 23 games. Jaiswal has played only the lone ODI for India in his still-young international career.

England's Harry Brook has dominated Test cricket like Jaiswal, with 2,339 runs at an average of 58.47 in 25 appearances. The 26-year-old also recently took over as England's ODI and T20I captain, having played 75 games across the two formats with almost 1,800 runs.

Ravindra has been underwhelming thus far in T20Is, averaging a dismal 17.16 in 26 games.
