10 football personalities who should join the WWE

WWE acquiring new wrestlers from different sports aren’t something new. There have been names like Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns and some more which came from different sporting background and recently the company tried to add a former footballer to their list by showing interest in former German Goal Keeper Tim Wiese. Some might hard to digest about a professional footballer being a wrestler but these are two sports where charismatic individuals could make a big name for themselves. And if the footballers were given with ample amount of training in wrestling, here are 10 names who could go on to become successful performers

#10 Roy Keane

There wouldn’t be many names in the Manchester United history books that would match up to Roy Keane’s charisma. Not only was he a gem when it came to the actual action in the pitch but he was also a multidimensional character.

Keane is known to be so tough and rough that even the great Sir. Alex Ferguson was scared of him to an extent. Having a charismatic character like make Keane a good fit into the wrestling business.

He also knows how to tackle down his opponent well which is an added on advantage. Keane could have a dream feud with CM Punk since two men have that similar rebellious attitude that attracts the fans towards them.

#9 Jose Mourinho

Jose is not technically a player but he is someone who cannot be kept out of this list. Football manager would either be known for the success they achieve or the controversy that they stir up but Mourinho belongs to that rare breed which does both.

He is one of those outstanding characters in the sport and WWE could easily use a manager like Mourinho in their roster. Mourinho has the microphone skills and tongue in cheek humor which are essential for a wrestling manager.

Mourinho would be similar to Paul Heyman and he can manage some big name like John Cena because everything gets better under the ‘Special one’.

#8 Joey Barton

Joey Barton might not have the physique to be a professional wrestler but boy can he throw a punch or what? Barton is known for picking up fights both on and off the pitch and has gone to prison for assault.

He has a history of fighting with his own team mates and the one for the other ream as well thus establishing a name for himself as a brawler.

WWE has always welcomed brawlers into the mix and since the tag team division could do some addition, Barton could join with fellow Brit Bad News Barrett and make a tag team named the British Brawlers.

#7 Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo arguably is the best player in the world at the moment when it comes to football. He has exceptional skills with the ball and could score from almost any angle.

Ronaldo has the looks, attitude, flashiness and arrogance that is needed to become a WWE Superstar and he wouldn’t have much trouble finding a valet as well thanks to Irina Shayk.

CR7 wouldn’t have much trouble stealing the show in wrestling just like he has been doing in football. Being the perfect package means Ronaldo could surpass John Cena in a dream feud and go on to become the face of the company.

#6 Eric Cantona

Before Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham made the number 7 shirt famous among the younger generation of fans, there was Eric Cantona.

He was controversy’s favorite child and made a name for himself by some infamous kicks and stomps at certain points of his career. WWE recently signed Kenta into the roster and he depends a lot of such kicks.

Cantona could take up a similar wrestling style and unlike Kenta, Cantona would also be charismatic witht the microphone as his attitude will be his biggest asset once he steps foot in the professional wrestling business.

#5 Zlatan Ibrahamovic

Prince Devitt recently introduced the bicycle kick to WWE fans at NXT but there is someone out there who could do it better and his name is Zlatan.

Ibrahamovic has the size, aggression and power to become a professional wrestler while the long hair and tattoos all around his body serve as an add on advantage for the Swede.

With a lot of aerobic goals under his belt, Zlatan could be a giant who performs some aerial movies which is a rarity in professional wrestling. Undertaker would be a good opponent for Zlatan due to the similarities that these two men have and the prospect of seeing Taker get beaten again.

#4 Craig Bellamy

Bellamy has undeniable talent and was one of the best footballers to come out of Wales during his prime.

However, Bellamy has a history of jumping ships every now and then. He has a record of being at more than 8 clubs in a decade which shows that people have trouble adjusting around him or the other way around.

Tough and rough Bellamy would be a good addition for the WWE roster and him being hard to manage adds more depth to the character. The football fans are well aware of Bellamy’s talent when it comes to brawling which could turn out to be his wrestling style in between the ropes.

#3 Sergio Ramos

Ramos might have that cute face and a perfect trophy cabinet, but his history is not that great for a footballer. The Spaniard is the most red- carded player in the Spanish La Liga and this history is enough for Vince to hire him.

With such a resume filled with red cards, Ramos wouldn’t have any trouble fitting into the WWE. He could grow his hair back to make him look more like a wrestler.

There is no change that needs to be changed about his physique as it is apt for a WWE superstar. The big boot or the penalty to mars could be his finishing moves with the best possible opponent being Triple H.

#2 Pepe

How can a cross over article between Football and wrestling be complete without Pepe? The Portuguese footballer is world famous for his roughness in the pitch and has earned him a cult image in the Internet fan community.

There were even posts showing the Undertaker’s streak being ended by Pepe before it actually happened.

The WWE fans are more than familiar with Pepe by now and when he enters the fold finally, it would be nightmare for everyone else in the roster. A fight between Lesnar and Pepe would be a dream come true as any inferior opponent would be an insult to the Real Madrid man.

#1 Mario Balotelli

Football fans have always been puzzled about the curious case of Mario Balotelli. There are no doubts about the talent he possesses when it comes to playing football but Mario is incredibly hard to handle off the pitch.

He is known to be a brat or a black goat in the pack which suits perfectly for a lone wolf gimmick in the company. He knows how to flex some muscles as well and lack of celebration after a win would be his trademark.

The writers could even give him a special manager who will be the only one who could control him just like they gave Paul Bearer to Undertaker and Kane back during the good old days.
