WWE Extreme Rules 2015: 5 Storylines that could come out of the pay-per-view

Extreme Rules might still be a handful of weeks away but knowing the way in which WWE works, the creative team would have already planned out what happens after the pay-per-view. The plans might not be as significant as the ones after WrestleMania but since it will be crucial heading to SummerSlam, the writers will be taking cautious steps. The Extreme Rules match card is only half-baked at the moment and it is not as half as exciting as what went down in WrestleMania. But let’s not jump to conclusions that the show would bomb. Instead, here is a look at some of the storylines that could sprout of the 2015 Extreme Rules.

#5 Bella wars 2.0

Like it or not, WWE is planning to split up the Bellas once again. WWE ran the same angle last year after SummerSlam but failed to reach the potential that it had thanks to some bad booking decisions. With AJ Lee out of the divas division now, WWE is all set to give the Bella Wars another go.

The signs of this were there to be seen in the last couple of weeks where Brie was increasingly affecting Nikki during their match. The Divas champion is set to face the winner of Divas Battle Royal at Extreme Rules and there are two possibilities here.

The first one is Brie winning the Battle Royal and facing Nikki at the PPV. The second one is some other diva winning and Brie then costing Nikki her match at the PPV. Either way, we might get to see the Bellas locking horns.

#4 Lanas big push

Lana’s run alongside Rusev is in its twilight. She was one of the most attracting parts (literally) about the whole Rusev character and the friction that these two had at WrestleMania is only the start of something big. Lana was the one who cost Rusev the match that night (even though we know the real reason) and she is most likely to end up doing the same at Extreme rules.

This journey will end with Lana and Rusev parting ways and Lana then receiving the big rumored push. It is a bad thing for Rusev but for Lana, it is the best thing she could get as Rusev is going to fade away in the crowd slowly.

#3 Sheamus going for gold

Sheamus being saved for the post – WrestleMania period was no accident. WWE apparently had big plans for him and still does. The Celtic Warrior is going to be involved in either one of the midcard championship and the only question would be about the title he will be involved with.

Both the United States Championship and Intercontinental Championship is a credible choice for Sheamus. WWE will probably let Sheamus interfere in either of the title matches at Extreme Rules which will in turn make it clear about his post – Extreme Rules run.

He might not have any gold around his waist after all this, but Sheamus is going to be pushed into either of the two championship scenes after Extreme Rules.

#2 The new agenda of Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt had the biggest match of his career when he faced off against Undertaker at WrestleMania 31. Even without the streak in place, facing Taker was a great experience for the Eater of the World and the next feud he is involved in would matter a lot. Bray is taking a break to recover from his injuries right now and could make a return at Extreme Rules.

He would probably interfere in some match at the pay-per-view and though we are not clear on who he will be up against, a storyline involving Bray Wyatt is sure to sprout out of Extreme Rules. Roman Reigns is likely to be in the mix but it could be anyone.

#1 Seth Rollins drifting away from The Authority

Is it just me or is there some friction between Kane and Seth Rollins? The second seems more likely as WWE has the habit of coming out with some ridiculous storyline ideas. Kane might just turn face in the coming weeks and could even go on to headline pay-per-views with Seth Rollins.

That however would be the forgettable part of it; while the positive take away would be the friction between Seth Rollins and the Authority. There are rumors about WWE planning to keep the Authority away from television for some time and Rollins might just be the catalyst.

Rollins turning baby face is also a big possibility but Kane’s turn is more likely. It is one of the booking decisions that need to happen as it could make the main event scene more exciting.
